New Super Mario Bros. trailer is a plumbing commercial

The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s latest trailer is out now… well, sort of.

A new 31-second-long commercial featuring Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and Luigi (voiced by Charlie Day) promotes their plumbing business. “Oh we’re the Mario brothers and plumbing’s a game, we’re not like the others who get all the fame. When your sink is in trouble, you could call us on the double, we’re faster than the others, you’ll be hooked on the brothers.”

“Thank you Super Mario Bros., it seems like the only thing you haven’t drained is my bank account,” says a satisfied customer towards the end of the ad. There’s also a mock website, with satisfied, and some unsatisfied customer testimonials, and career opportunities. Additionally, by dialling 929-55-MARIO (929-556-2746), you can reach Super Mario Bros. Plumbing. Once dialed, you’ll hear Luigi himself telling you to text on the same phone number for any plumbing needs. The number is U.S.-based, so don’t call on it if your mobile plan doesn’t support international calling. Or…call on it, if you really need ‘well-qualified’ plumbers to do the job.

Hear Chris Pratt try to be Italian again in new Super Mario Bros. movie trailer

Nintendo has debuted the second trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Revealed during a November 29th Nintendo Direct, the trailer lets us hear more of Chris Pratt’s bizarre Mario voice as well as Charlie Day’s Luigi, who both said little during last month’s debut teaser. As previously teased, the trailer also introduces Princess Peach, played by Anya Taylor-Joy.

We also get nods to classic Mario staples like the Fire Bar and even Mario Kart. Unfortunately, we only get a glimpse at Seth Rogen’s Donkey Kong as he’s about to fight Mario — we don’t get to hear the Canadian funnyman’s voice. (He did appear in the Direct via a pre-recorded live-action talking segment, however.) Additionally, Nintendo says that Charles Martinet, the long-running voice of Mario in the games, will appear in “surprise cameos.”

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) serve as co-directors. Composer Brian Tyler (Avengers: Age of Ultron) is also working with original Mario series composer Koji Kondo to integrate some of his iconic tunes into the original score.

Following a delay out of 2022The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit North American theatres on April 7th, 2023.

First Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer curses your ears with ‘Italian’ Chris Pratt

Just over a year after Nintendo revealed the hilariously out-there voice cast for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the first trailer for the animated movie has finally been revealed.

The footage comes from an October 6th Nintendo Direct focused entirely on the Illumination-produced film, and it gives us what we’ve all been dreading  waiting for: the debut of Chris Pratt as Mario.

Before that, though, we get a look at Jack Black’s Bowser and his Koopa army, and then we’re introduced to our hero. Amusingly, Pratt as Mario sounds almost entirely like normal Chris Pratt, but with the faintest faux Italian accent. It’s extremely bizarre and seems like it’s out of a Saturday Night Live sketch. We also get a brief look at Luigi (Charlie Day).

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) serve as co-directors, while the cast also includes Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Canada’s own Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong) and original Mario actor Charles Martinet in various cameos. First Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer coming via Nintendo Direct on Oct. 6

Nintendo has announced that a new Direct presentation will be held on October 6th, and it will be focused entirely on the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Kicking off at 1:05pm PT/4:05pm ET on YouTube and Twitch and coinciding with a New York Comic Con panel, the Direct will feature the world premiere of the animated movie’s long-awaited first trailer. In a social media post announcing the Direct, Nintendo also offered our first look at the movie’s animation style.

Nintendo and animation studio Illumination officially announced the film in January 2018, but since then, we haven’t actually seen anything from it. All we know, following a September 2021 Nintendo Direct, is the movie’s principal voice cast, which amusingly includes Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Jack Black (Bowser) and Canada’s own Seth Rogen (Donkey Kong). Therefore, all eyes are on seeing actual footage from this movie, especially given its meme-worthy voice cast.

It should be noted, however, that Nintendo will only discuss the Mario movie during the Direct — no news on Mario games will be provided.
