Disney+ series Ahsoka to premiere in August, trailer revealed

Disney and LucasFilm are hosting Star Wars Celebration and are revealing new details on the Ahsoka series. The annual event unpacks all the latest announcements and reveals and gives some new tidbits on what fans can expect.

Revealed during an exclusive panel, the long-awaited Ahsoka series, starring Rosario Dawson, is due to premiere on Disney+ this August. As part of Star Wars Celebration, fans are being treated not only to a new Ahsoka poster but the first teaser trailer.

The teaser sees Dawson returning as the beloved Star Wars character Ahsoka. The character was last seen in the series The Book of Boba Fett. She is shown to search the galaxy as rumours regarding Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return continue to surface.

On top of outlining the series’ plot, the Ahsoka trailer shows brief snippets of returning Star Wars characters in live action as well as new faces. For instance, we’re given the first look at Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren as well as Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who is cast as Hera. Newcomer Ray Stevenson is said to be playing a new character, described as a former Jedi. Finally, we’re given a small look at the big bad Thrawn. However, casting for the awaited villain has not been announced.

Dave Filoni is once again the executive producer on the series as well as one of the writers. Filoni has largely been the executive producer on many contemporary Star Wars projects on Disney+ including The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and The Book of Boba Fett. It’s not yet known who is attached to direct the series.

Disney+ is currently wrapping up the third season of The Mandalorian, with the season set to conclude on April 19. Suffice to say, some threads might be created as connective tissue between the streamer’s flagship Star Wars series and Ahsoka.

Disney Canada giving away custom The Mandalorian Xbox Series S console

Disney Canada has teamed up with Xbox for a contest to promote the new season of The Mandalorian.

From now until March 12th, Canadians have a chance to win a limited edition custom Xbox Series S console featuring special Grogu artwork.

While Disney Canada’s official Twitter account shows a picture with both the Grogu Series S and a Mandalorian-adorned Series X and the official contest rules mention “an Xbox Series XSS console,” MobileSyrup has confirmed with Xbox that the Canadian contest is for the Grogu console, specifically.

In addition to the system and matching controller, you’ll also get a cute little Grogu-esque hoodie for the gamepad and three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. In Canada, the Series S and three months of Game Pass Ultimate are priced at $379.99 and $44.99, respectively, while the hoodie is valued at $10 USD (about $13.59 CAD). Of course, this being a special console that you wouldn’t be able to buy normally certainly ups the value.

Canadians interested in entering can do so here. All you need is to give your name and email and answer the decidedly simple question of where you can stream the new season The Mandalorian. (Spoilers: Disney+!)

It’s worth noting that Xbox’s global team is running a Twitter contest for both the Mando-themed Series X and Grogu Series S. This one runs until May 12th and is open to all countries in which Xbox is available, including Canada. To enter, you’ll have to retweet this tweet with the hashtag #TheMandalorianXboxSweepstakes.

The third season of The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ on March 1st, with new episodes streaming every Wednesday. In the latest season, Mando has reunited with Grogu and now sets his eyes on Mandalore to redeem his past transgressions. The series stars Pedro Pascal, the internet’s favourite daddy and star of another popular streaming series, The Last of Us.

Today’s ‘The Mandalorian’ Google easter egg is adorable

If you Google The Mandalorian today, you’ll be met with the world’s cutest little alien.

Grogu appears at the bottom of the page, and if you tap him, the little guy starts using the Force on your web page.

If you keep tapping on Grogu, he just keeps doing it, figuratively breaking the internet.

It’s absolutely adorable, and you need to try it out. Once you refresh the page, everything is back in place.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian hit Disney+, yesterday, March 2nd.

The Mandalorian Season 3 to premiere on Disney+ in March 2023

Lucasfilm has confirmed that the highly anticipated third season of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ on March 1st, 2023.

The announcement came via the series’ official social media channels alongside a picture of the titular bounty hunter and Grogu, AKA Baby Yoda.

While the second season of The Mandalorian ended in December 2020, Mando and Grogu appeared in the spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett, which ran from December 2021 to February 2022. The first trailer for Season 3 dropped in September:

In Season 3, Mando and Grogu travel to Mandalore to confront Bo-Katan and the Mandalorians. Pedro Pascal stars as The Mandalorian, while Carl Weathers (Greef), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) are also set to return.

Ahsoka, another The Mandalorian spin-off, is also set to premiere sometime in 2023. The series follows Rosario Dawson’s eponymous former Jedi, who previously appeared in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, in a story that picks up where the animated series Star Wars: Rebels left off.

The Mandalorian season 3 releases in February 2023

The third season of The Mandalorian is set to hit Disney+ in February 2023.

Season 2 of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series TV show launched back in October 2020, so the third season is long overdue. That said, Mando and Grogu did appear in some episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.

During Disney’s Star Wars Celebration, The Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau announced that Mando will make his way to Mandalore, the home planet of the Mandalorians, in season 3.

As a fan of Baby Yoda, I’m just looking forward to seeing the adorable creature eat more things.

The Mandalorian spin-off ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ to hit Disney+ on December 29

Lucasfilm has confirmed that its highly anticipated spin-off to The MandalorianThe Book of Boba Fett, will premiere on Disney+ on December 29th.

The company had previously only given a vague “December” release window. Set after the events of The Mandalorian‘s second season, the series “finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate,” according to Lucasfilm.

Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen are reprising their roles of Fett and Shand, respectively. Key members of The Mandalorian‘s creative team, including Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, are also working on The Book of Boba Fett.

Additionally, Lucasfilm unveiled the first look at key art from the upcoming series, which features Fett sitting on his new throne.

It’s a big time for Disney+, as the streaming service is set to celebrate its second anniversary on November 12th.

To commemorate, Disney will hold its first-ever annual ‘Disney+ Day’ event on that date, which will feature premieres like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and announcements from the likes of Marvel and Lucasfilm.
