Code suggests several Android brands will support Android 12 dynamic colours

One of the highlights of Android 12 is the new Material You dynamic theme engine, which can pull colours from users’ wallpaper and implement them into system and app UI elements.

Dubbed ‘Monet,’ the system currently works on Pixel phones. That could change in the future, however — several Android phone manufacturers now appear in Google’s Material Components library.

Mishaal Rahman, former editor-in-chief at XDA Developers and now the senior technical editor at Esper, spotted the list and posted the information on Twitter. In short, code included in the Material Components library lists manufacturers that support dynamic colour. You can read the full list below:

It’s also worth noting, as Android Police points out, that the core software behind extracting colour from the wallpaper and the appearance model are already part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), while the colour palette generation algorithm is Pixel exclusive. That’s set to change with Android 12L, since Google is expected to push that code to AOSP.

Unfortunately, it’s possible the above manufacturers could implement their own versions of dynamic theming, particularly the palette generation portion, designed specifically for their Android skins. Android Police notes that Samsung likely already went this route. The company supports dynamic colour theming in the One UI 4 beta, but it’s probably a proprietary solution since the company doesn’t appear in the above list. Likewise, Oppo has its own dynamic colour implementation in ColorOS 12.

Hopefully these brand-specific takes on dynamic colour theming properly leverage the Material Components library since third-party apps reply on it for the colour extraction. If not, colour theming could be limited to the system UI of each manufacturer’s skin if app developers don’t manually add support for each one.

Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe ‘set to marry’

Eddie Redmayne and his fiancée Hannah Bagshawe are to tie the knot today (15.12.14).

The couple have enjoyed a two-year romance and are said to have organised a winter wonderland-themed ceremony at Babington House near Bath, Somerset.

Eddie, 32, told The Sun newspaper: ”We like the hymn ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ and wanted an excuse to sing that at a wedding.”

The theme of the wedding has been developed by a special effects team at the private members country club, while the selected venue – a Grade II* listed manor house – has been home to a large number of celebrities weddings in the past, including that of reality TV star Millie Mackintosh and rapper Professor Green.

Eddie announced his engagement to Hannah, also 32, in The Times newspaper earlier this year.

The announcement read: ”Mr E.J.D. Redmayne and Miss H.J. Bagshawe. The engagement is announced between Edward, son of Mr and Mrs Richard Redmayne of London, and Hannah, daughter of Mr Nicholas Bagshawe and Mrs Caryl Bagshawe, both of London.”

Last week, Eddie received a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination for his performance as theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking in new movie ‘The Theory Of Everything’.

Sandra Bullock’s cowboy birthday

Sandra Bullock enjoyed an early 50th birthday celebration at a cowboy bar on Thursday (07.24.14).

The ‘Gravity’ actress reached the milestone age on Saturday (07.26.14), but began her festivities early by heading to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with a group of female pals to listen to country group Southern Soul Allstars.

A source said: ”There were probably six to ten women in the group. It appeared to be a ladies night. They just came in to listen to the band.”

Though the group – which included Chelsea Handler – didn’t seem to be dancing, they all had a great time.

The onlooker added to E! News: ”It was pretty low key. They all had one drink…and were all dressed casually.

”Sandra looked radiant, beautiful and was very sweet. It looked like she was having a blast.”

Sandra and Chelsea have been close friends for years, and on Saturday night, the ‘Chelsea Lately’ host posted a picture on Instagram of a group of women in a cheeky pose, with one of the group showing off her thong-clad butt, though it is unclear as to her identity.

While the picture was captioned ”Birthday girls”, the ‘Blind Side’ actress – who has a four-year-old son, Louis – can’t be seen in the Instagram picture.
