Victoria Beckham Has a New Look

According to the British television station, ITV, Victoria Beckham now has platinum blonde hair.

The former Spice Girl is in Los Angeles, and is getting ready to stay permanently in California, where her husband, David Beckham, will play for the soccer team, Galaxy.

Although Beckham is friends with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, she is still impressed with the stars.

Beckham, 32, was thrilled when Tom Hanks recognized her at a party.

Toy Story 3 Coming in 2009

Contrary to previous reports, John Lasseter will not be directing the project.  The animated film will now be under the direction of Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo).

The two principal stars of the original film, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, have confirmed that they will again provide the voices for Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

The script for the third installment was written by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine).

A Sequel for The Da Vinci Code

According to IMDB, a follow-up for The Da Vinci Code, will be made.  Screenplay writer, Akiva Goldsman, adapted the novel written by author Dan Brown, for the silver screen.  Goldsman was paid $3.8 million to write the screenplay for this sequel.

The sequel will be based on the book Angels and Demons.  In the first film, the cryptographer, Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks, helps a woman find the link between her father’s death and secret conspiracies.  The sequel will be in theatres in 2008.

Charlize Theron’s Genorousity

According to ITV, the star of the film Monster threw a Hollywood bash to raise money for children in her native country.

The star’s African Outreach program raised over $140,000 that evening.  The event was attended by several celebrities including Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Tom Hanks.  Regarding her charity work, Theron said, "It’s my home, it’s in my blood, it’s who I am and you can’t change that."

Theron, 31, was recognised with the LA Film Festival’s Spirit of Independance award for her diverse roles in films.

Columbia Gives Green Light to Next Dan Brown Film

The Da Vinci Code is already a box-office hit, earning $224 million in one weekend.  The film’s producers are now hoping to have the same success with the Angels and Demons sequel project.

The book, written before The Da Vinci Code, also follows the main character, Robert Langdon, who was played by Tom Hanks in the film.  It is yet unknown if Hanks and the other actors will star in the sequel.  Additionally, a spokesperson for Columbia stated that Ron Howard, who directed The Da Vinci Code, has not yet agreed to lead the new movie.

Columbia Pictures has also obtained the film rights to another Dan Brown novel, entitled Digital Fortress and Deception Point.

Tom Hanks Tells a Secret

In an interview for the June issue of Esquire magazine, the Da Vinci Code star revealed that he cheated on former wife, Samantha Lewes, in 1978.  Hanks, 49, is now happily married to Rita Wilson.  The two met while working on the film Volunteers.

The actor who won an Oscar for his role in Forrest Gump, is also known for keeping his private life very private.  In the interview he said, "Rita and I just looked at each other and – kaboing – that was that. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn’t be denied."

He added, "Well, yeah, I did happen to be married at the time. And there’s nothing to celebrate about that."

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were married in 1988.  They have two children, Chester, 15, and Truman, 10.

The Da Vinci Code Gets Frosty Reception

The film, which was adapted from Dan Brown’s book, didn’t seem to please the critics.  There was no clapping at the end of the film, and there were uncomfortable moments of laughter at inappropriate times during the film. 

In addition to the critics, the film has been under attack by the Catholic church, which disapproves of the film’s message.

Directed by Ron Howard (American Graffiti, A Beautiful Mind), the film stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou and Jean Reno.  The Da Vinci Code suggests that Jesus had a secret romance which left a line of descendants.

Tom Hanks Joins Cast of Mamma Mia

Producers have been working on bringing the stage production based on the music of Abba to theatres for more than a year.  According to Daily Variety, Hanks and his production company, Playtone, have teamed with Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson, former Abba members, to create the movie.

Featuring the songs of the popular 1970s band, the film is expected to be released to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the musical in London at the end of the year.

Tom Hanks’ Favourite Films

Hanks, who recently shared his favourites with a German newspaper, also chose Elephant, directed by Gus Van Sant, The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and Fargo, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, as his other favourites.

Hanks is a two-time Oscar winner for his performances in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump.  To complete his top-five list of favourite films, Hanks chose Boogie Nights.  The Paul Thomas Anderson film was a story about the porn industry in the 1970s.

Tom Hanks can be seen in theatres soon in the highly anticipated film, Da Vinci Code.

Tom Hanks the Talk of the Town

Nia Vardalos, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, wrote the script for this movie.  It will be produced by Tom Hanks’ company, Playtone, that had also produced My Big Fat Greek Wedding, written by and starring Nia Vardalos.

"Tom will play a man who is forced into a career change when he least expects it," revealed Vardalos, who will not be acting in this movie.

She is also working on a potential sequel for My Big Fat Greek Wedding.  "I’ve understood the desire for a sequel, because I hear it all the time from my family and everyone I run into at a Starbucks," Vardalos emphasized.

In addition to these two projects, Vardalos is working on the script for the romantic comedy I Hate Valentine’s Day, for which she will have a part.
