Vin Diesel is Forbes’ top grossing actor

Vin Diesel is Forbes’ top grossing actor of 2017.

The 50-year-old actor topped the list for the last 12 months with $1.6 billion, largely due to his appearance as Dominic Toretto in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. His co-star Dwayne Johnson came in second place with $1.5 billion whilst Gal Gadot made an impressive $1.4 billion for her record breaking role in ‘Wonder Woman’.

‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson placed fourth with $1.3 billion whilst Johnny Depp and Daisy Ridley placed fifth and sixth with $1.1 billion and $1.08 billion respectively.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ star Tom Holland secured $888 million whilst ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt grossed $864 million. ‘Thor’s Chris Hemsworth ($845 million) and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s John Boyega ($815 million) completed the top 10.

The figures have been calculated by adding together global ticket sales of major films from January until December 26, 2017.

It comes after Vin admitted he doesn’t think it’s "anyone’s fault" that ‘Fast and Furious 9’ has been delayed until 2020.

He shared: "I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the Fast 9 release date was pushed … but it would be unfair to say it is anyone’s fault. As we plot the course to expand the Fast & Furious universe, one must be mindful to take stock of the roads we took to get here. The pillars of authenticity, family and most importantly, our loyal fan’s perspective has been instrumental in procuring success. However, like any vehicle that has run around the globe 8 times, the franchise is in need of maintenance. My good friend and the godfather of Universal, Ron Meyer has granted me the time to do just that. We have some very exciting news to share soon … stay tuned. (sic)"

Tom Holland’s spidey sense wasn’t tinkling after surgery

Tom Holland mistook an ice pack for his phone.

The ‘Spider: Man Homecoming’ actor was left dazed and confused when he woke from anaesthetic after having a wisdom tooth removed, and his friend, Harrison Osterfield, and younger brother Sam Holland filmed his hilarious reaction.

The 21-year-old star appeared shaky and struggled to sit up before grabbing the ice, thinking it was his cell phone and ‘answered’ it.

He said: "You… You… Hello."

Although the actor plays Peter Parker, one of the smartest characters in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the comic books, Tom quipped he feels "1/4 less wise" after the routine operation.

He captioned the video: "Thanks lads for looking after me @hazosterfield @samholland1999! I feel 1/4 less wise haha (sic)"

Tom debuted as the webslinger in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and in 2017 he had his first standalone movie as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ – which was helmed by Jon Watts – marks the first time Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have worked together on the fan favourite superhero after Marvel sold the rights in 1985 for $225,000.

Tom is the most recent actor to don the superhero suit, following in the footsteps of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who have played the character in the past.

One of the webslinger’s key superpowers is his ‘spider-sense’, which allows him super-reflexes and to anticipate attacks, and in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, this special ability was absent but Watts admitted it could be something that can be developed in future films.

Tom is currently filming ‘Chaos Walking’ and is set to reprise his role as the webslinger in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

Zendaya learned trapeze artist skills for movie role

Zendaya had to learn the skills of a trapeze artist to star in ‘The Greatest Showman’.

The 20-year-old actress plays the part of Anne Wheeler in the musical biographical drama movie about American showman P. T. Barnum – but she’s admitted her deceptively slim frame wasn’t suited to the highly energetic role.

She explained: "I have no muscle tone, no upper body strength. I don’t work out ever. I just have a metabolism and look like I’m in shape."

Zendaya enrolled in a daily bootcamp as she prepared for the on-screen part, but she found the experience to be frightening.

Speaking to Vaiety magazine, Zendaya recalled: "It was extremely scary.

"I actually got to be on the real rig; it was 10 to 15 feet taller, and there was no net. I was like, ‘What am I doing?’"

Meanwhile, Zendaya recently denied rumours she is dating her ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ co-star Tom Holland.

The actress and Tom, 21, have become close friends ever since they started working together on the set of the film, but Zendaya has insisted they are not romantically involved.

She explained: "We are friends. He’s a great dude. He’s literally one of my best friends. This past how many months we’ve had to do press tours together.

"There’s very few people that will understand what that’s like at 20 years old."

By contrast, an insider previously claimed that the Hollywood duo had been on vacation together as a couple.

The source said: "They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.

"They’re both really ambitious and they challenge each other – but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humour and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth."

Zendaya recalls ‘super awkward’ meeting with Tom Holland

Zendaya’s first meeting with Tom Holland was "super awkward".

The 20-year-old actress stars alongside Tom, 21, in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ and although the duo have since become really close friends, Tom doesn’t recall their first encounter too fondly.

Zendaya shared: "He says when we first met it was super awkward because he went for a handshake and I went for a hug.

"But I don’t remember that. I thought it was cool."

However, the Hollywood star admitted to being anxious when she first came across Tom, because she feared her height advance might prove to be a problem.

Speaking to Variety magazine, Zendaya said: "I was worried because he’s so much shorter than me.

"I was like, ‘Damn it! It’s going to be weird because I’m super tall.’ But then we ended up doing the audition sitting. So that was good."

Zendaya, who is biracial, also revealed she doubted whether she’d be cast in the role of Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones in the ‘Spider-Man’ movie because of her background.

She explained: "A lot of time, the thought process of an actor of color is ‘I’m going to go and give it my best shot, but they are probably not going to go with an actor of color for this.’

"We all think it. I didn’t know they were going to switch up the characters and really cast the best people for the roles, instead of what’s most like the comic book. I think that was the coolest part for me, knowing they embraced the diversity."

Meanwhile, Tom previously described Zendaya as his "best friend" and praised her for helping him to navigate fame.

He said: "We are like the best of friends. She’s so great and amazing.

"I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she’s been through this and I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’ I’m very glad I have a friend like her."

Tom Holland dating Zendaya

Tom Holland and Zendaya are dating.

The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ co-stars reportedly fell for one another while making the movie, and though they have been trying to keep their romance out of the spotlight, insiders claim they have been spending a lot of time together.

A source told People magazine: "They started seeing each other while they were filming ‘Spider-Man’.

"They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another."

The 21-year-old actor and the 20-year-old actress "challenge" one another but they also have a lot of fun and are always "joking around" together.

The source said: "They’re both really ambitious and they challenge each other — but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humour and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth."

Tom previously described Zendaya as his "best friend" and praised her for helping him navigate fame.

He said: "We are like the best of friends. She’s so great and amazing.

"I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she’s been through this and I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’ I’m very glad I have a friend like her."

The pair wouldn’t be the first ‘Spider-Man’ co-stars to enjoy an off-screen romance.

Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire embarked on a relationship while shooting ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002, but had split before filming the third installment in 2007.

And ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ co-stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone enjoyed a three-year romance until 2015.

Tom Holland was bullied for being a dancer

Tom Holland was bullied for being passionate about dancing at school.

The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ star has opened up about being picked on when he was young for his love of ballet, but says it wasn’t enough to stop him from performing.

He said: "I had my rough patches. There was times when I was bullied about dancing and stuff. But you couldn’t hit me hard enough to stop me from doing it."

The 21-year-old actor starred on a regular basis as Billy in ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’ until 2010 after being spotted by choreographer Lynne Page.

He said:"They saw potential in me and they started sending dance teachers to my house."

Tom portrays the titular web-spinner in the Marvel movie and says he relates to the character, also known as Peter Parker, because they were both uncool in the playground.

He told PEOPLE magazine: "I, like Peter, accepted I wasn’t the cool kid at school and just found my group of friends and got on with it."

The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ star hopes that other young kids will take from the new movie that even superheros go through hard times and show them that they are not alone.

He continued: "Peter Parker’s storyline hits every key point of growing up. "It’s so fantastic for young kids to see a superhero going through the things they go through."

Meanwhile, Tom recently shared how he got over his ‘Spider-Man’ "doubts" following a frank chat with co-star Robert Downey Jr.

He said: "Robert Downey Jr. has been really great, he’s been there during a lot of this.

"There have been moments, particularly during ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ where I’ve doubted my capabilities. We all have doubts.

"And he pulled me aside one day and said, ‘You know, you got this, this was meant to be. I had the same feelings doing ‘Iron Man’, the same anxieties, but know that they picked you for a reason – because it feels right, it works. It’s not about how good you can do the web-slinging or the stunts, it’s about the personality you bring to the character.’

"That eased by fears and wise words like that from Iron Man, you don’t forget. They are there stored in the vault for repeat use."

Zendaya: Tom Holland stole my jacket

Tom Holland stole Zendaya’s leather jacket.

The 21-year-old actor stars as Peter Parker and his titular web-slinging alter ego alongside Zendaya’s Michelle in the upcoming Marvel movie ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, and the brunette beauty has said that because the pair are "the same size", Tom has pinched the "really nice" jacket from her collection.

Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the world premiere for the movie in Los Angeles on Wednesday (06.28.17), 20-year-old Zendaya said: "Sadly we’re the same size. I have this really nice leather jacket and he was running out of clothes on the press tour, and he was like, ‘Oh, I really like this jacket.’ And I was like, ‘Try it on.’ And it fit him.

"I didn’t really know he was literally going to take it. So he still has it somewhere. In fact, thank you for reminding me [because] I need to let him know he needs to get that sent back to me."

The news comes after Tom previously admitted to still having the jacket, although he isn’t sure where he left it.

He said: "I ran out of new clothes and was like, ‘Yo mate, can you help me out? I don’t have any clothes to wear for this event.’ And she was like, ‘Oh I have this jacket, do you want to borrow it?’ And I tried it on. I still have it. I even saw her in New York like, two days ago, she’s like, ‘Can I have the jacket back?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t I don’t know where it is.’"

But the actor did admit his co-star is "the one to go to" when it comes to fashion tips, as she is the best at "serving looks".

He gushed: "Zendaya is the one. At serving looks, she is the one to go to for tips."

Tom Holland warned about autographs

Tom Holland got in trouble with police for throwing signed pictures at his fans.

The ‘Spiderman: Homecoming’ actor was told he couldn’t go and meet the loyal supporters who were waiting outside his hotel because he didn’t have time to leave the building between interviews, so in order to make them feel appreciated, he began signing pages from ‘Spider-Man’ comics and throwing them down to the assembled group instead.

However, the 21-year-old star eventually had to stop his kind gesture because officers looking after the crowd got "mad".

He said: "The thing is, we weren’t allowed to leave the hotel because of timing issues, we had to get right to an interview.

"So our way of, like, sending the fans things was scrunching up signed pictures and throwing them out the window.

"Admittedly, the police got really mad at one point and were like, ‘Stop throwing pictures!’ But yeah, we got as many out as we could."

While shooting the movie, Tom struck up a firm friendship with Zendaya, who plays one of the classmates of his alter ego Peter Parker, and not only does he go to her for fashion advice, he’s even been borrowing clothes from the 23-year-old actress.

He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "I ran out of new clothes and was like, ‘Yo mate, can you help me out? I don’t have any clothes to wear for this event.’ And she was like, ‘Oh I have this jacket, do you want to borrow it?’ And I tried it on. I still have it.
