Jim Montgomery hints at 3 major changes for Game 7.

The Boston Bruins are in an unexpected position heading into Sunday’s Game 7, facing the threat of an early elimination in the Stanley Cup playoffs after the most dominant regular season in National Hockey League history and after taking a commanding 3-1 lead over the Florida Panthers in this series.

It’s hard to believe but it feels like all of the pressure is now on the Bruins to close out the deal, and it seems as though head coach Jim Montgomery may be making the changes he feels necessary to deal with the toughest hurdle his team has faced all season.

Although Montgomery would not disclose any changes he made to his lineup on Sunday, there are some things we can infer based on how the Bruins behaved during their morning skate. The biggest of these changes appears to be a much anticipated change in goal, with backup goaltender Jeremy Swayman being the first off the ice during the skate on Saturday. This is usually an indication of who the starter will be, although things could change at a moments notice during the playoffs.

Montgomery also appeared to swap out a pair of skaters on Sunday, with Nick Foligno and Conor Clifton remaining on the ice late into practice, an indication that they will both be scratched tonight. Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe believes that this means we will see Trent Frederic and Matt Grzelcyk step into the lineup tonight to replace those two aforementioned Bruins.

A first round exit would be incredibly disappointing after the season the Bruins had, and it will be very interesting to see how they react to that pressure tonight.

Trent Frederic and Ryan Lomberg at the center of disturbing scene in Game 2

It was a chaotic to Game 2 in Boston as the Bruins fell 6-3 to the Florida Panthers who tied up the series at 1 on Wednesday night.

The disturbing scene took place in the final two minutes as Radko Gudas, Nick Foligno and Garnet Hathaway were sent off with game misconducts. It all came to a brutal end when Bruins’ Trent Frederic got tangled up with Ryan Lomberg and both players started throwing punches. Frederic took down the Panthers’ forward, who however reversed their position while down on the ice before reportedly throwing the Bruins’ forward into a choke hold.

The video shows Frederic kicking his legs wildly while linesmen Kyle Flemington flails around trying to separate the two players.

After the game, Frederic was visibly upset, and probably got even more frustrated that there was no supplemental discipline for Lomberg’s actions as it remains unclear on whether he actually choked Frederic.

Frederic commented on the choke hold on Friday after practice: “Couldn’t breathe. Maybe panicked a little too early. But it was getting close there where the lights were going to turn off for a second. I’ve never seen that one.”

You can only imagine that Lomberg will get some special attention and treatment from the Bruins in Game 3.

Game on, boys!

Bruins’ Trent Frederic one punches Lane Pederson in quickest fight you’ll see!

The Boston Bruins will always make sure captain Patrice Bergeron is okay. On Thursday night, he was cross-checked by Columbus Blue Jackets’ Lane Pederson in the second period. The Jackets forward was only assessed a minor penalty despite making contact with Bergeron’s face using his stick.

Trent Frederic came to his captain’s defense later on in the game and dropped the gloves in Pederson.

The Bruins’ forward needed only one powerful punch to knock Pederson down to the ice.

This is the quickest NHL fight you’ll see.

What a bomb!

This fight was Frederic’s seventh of the year, which is tied for the fifth-most among all players.
