Trump gloomy (and frankly, disturbing) in his TIME interview

Former President Donald Trump clarified and elaborated on his vision for his presidential tenure if he returns to the Oval Office in 2025, in a stunning interview with TIME. Trump reveals a highly controversial platform focused on immigration and conservative abortion policies.

A downright dark and disturbing interview.

Immigration, one of the main points of his previous election campaign, remains at the forefront of his 2024 campaign. While Trump promised in 2016 to build a wall on the southern border and make Mexico pay for it, this broken promise has become the symbol of his immigration policy that Trump wants to shake up.

In an interview with TIME magazine, the former president announces that he’s going to go much further with his policies, suggesting that the US military be deployed to help, in his view, deport more than 11 million undocumented immigrants. Trump believes that immigration is a threat to the viability of the United States.

Donald Trump, who appointed Supreme Court justices responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade, has said he’d rather see states retain their ability to determine abortion laws, rather than have a federal ban.

Trump distances himself from abortion legislation and maintains that decisions should be made by the states, and that they could monitor women’s pregnancies to determine whether they have abortions.

Now, that is worrying…

One thing’s for sure, several controversial policies remain at the forefront of his 2024 campaign.

Judge finds Trump in contempt of court, warns him of possible imprisonment

Former President Donald Trump has been found in contempt of court in his ongoing trial concerning the Stormy Daniels bribery case. The judge also issued a clear warning about Trump’s future actions, handing his written decision to the parties, suggesting a possible prison sentence.

Judge Merchan, who has just imposed a fine of $9,000, the statutory maximum of $1,000, for nine offenses committed.

The judge acknowledged that this sum might seem modest given Trump’s wealth. However, he warned Trump that he could be subject to harsher penalties, such as imprisonment for up to 30 days, if he continued to ignore the court’s directives.

The gag order imposed on Trump in this case is designed to preserve the fairness and integrity of justice. It prevents Trump from speaking publicly about the witnesses, judge or jurors involved in the trial.

This measure was imposed on him because of numerous messages published on the Truth Social platform and on his campaign website, where he criticized key players in the case, thereby jeopardizing public perceptions and legal proceedings.

The judge also ordered the deletion of several messages published by Trump on social networks, specifying that he would strictly enforce the consequences in the event of further breaches. He stressed that maintaining a fair environment during the trial was essential.

Trump faces 34 counts in the case, including for falsifying documents related to payments to his former lawyer Michael Cohen. Trump has denied these allegations, which could result in a prison sentence if proven at the end of this trial.

Big win for Trump, his bail is reduced!

An court intervened in former President Donald Trump’s legal affairs, reducing his bail for a civil fraud judgment in New York from $454 million to $175 million, a significant victory for Trump.

The showdown between Trump and New York Attorney General Letitia James has therefore been postponed, as the judge has given the former president more time to get the money together. James was due to start seizing Trump’s assets to offset a $454 million fine that Trump says he can’t pay. The court also granted Trump an additional ten days to collect the funds in addition to significantly reducing bail.

The New York appellate court’s order currently allows Trump and his children to continue running a business in New York and obtaining loans from the state’s financial institutions.

When this decision was made, Trump and his legal team were present at another hearing, for the trial of the bribery case in New York. They were discussing the possibility of delaying a case concerning payments made to Stormy Daniels. Trump’s legal team claimed that prosecutors had filed documents too late to be able to verify them before proceedings began.

The judge finally ruled in the case and ordered the trial to begin on April 15, without granting any further delays.

This decision represents a defeat for Trump, coming shortly after his victory in his civil judgment for fraud.

A crucial Supreme Court victory for Donald Trump

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court handed a significant victory to former President Donald Trump by reinstating his presidential candidacy. This crucial decision nullifies efforts by some states, such as Colorado, Illinois and Maine, to exclude Donald Trump’s name from the ballot due to his involvement in the January 6 Capitol Hill riots perpetrated by his supporters.

At the heart of this legal dispute lies the interpretation of the insurrectionary clause of the 14th Amendment, this constitutional change, adopted following the Civil War, outlaws the eligibility of individuals involved in rebellion. The Colorado Court previously ruled that Trump had encouraged his supporters to attack the Capitol, thus applying the 14th Amendment to prevent a presidential candidate from appearing on the ballot for the first time in history.

The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision emphasized that states cannot use the Insurrection Clause against presidential candidates without direct Congressional approval.

This means that the decision will have implications for similar cases in the future.

The Court was divided on the scope of the decision. A majority of five out of nine justices held that the rule applies across the board, asserting that no state can exclude a candidate for federal office from the ballot. However, four justices felt that the scope of the decision should be limited to the specific case addressed by the Court, rather than applying broadly to all similar cases.

The Supreme Court’s decision comes at a defining moment in the contest for the nomination in several states, where Donald Trump is widely regarded as the leading favorite.

Donald Trump wants to deport Prince Harry

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, in a number of headline-grabbing statements recently, has expressed his vehement dislike of Prince Harry and his status… as an immigrant.

He has also declared that, if elected again in 2024, he would take no protective measures towards the Duke of Sussex, whom he would like to see deported as quickly as possible.

During his speech at the CPAC Republican convention in Oxon Hills, Maryland, Trump sharply criticized the Biden administration for its treatment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since their move to California in 2020. He described what he considers Prince Harry’s betrayal of Queen Elizabeth II as unforgivable , and suggested that the latter had received excessive courtesy from the US.

Getty Images

Trump’s comments come at a time when Prince Harry’s immigration status is under increasing scrutiny following his confession in his book Spare about his past drug use.

Getty Images

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, questioned the legality of Harry’s admission to the U.S. based on current immigration laws. Members of the Department of Homeland Security contradicted this, saying that not all statements in the books are considered fact or sworn evidence.

Simply put, Harry could not be denied access to America because of something in his book.

Trump’s comments aren’t limited to Prince Harry, however… he’s also targeted his wife Meghan Markle in several of his interviews and speeches.

Meghan and Harry must not feel too out of place to be publicly attacked in this way, as they’re used to it in England!

The news is in. Former President Donald Trump has been ordered to pay $355 million (USD) at the end of his high-profile civil trial for fraud involving him and his company, the Trump Organization, as well as his son Eric, among others.

This is a heavy sentence for Donald Trump and his businesses, since the ruling could place him in serious financial difficulties.

It is a powerful verdict for the prosecution and for those who want to see Trump and his cronies held to account like all citizens, despite his status as a former president.

The Trump clan, meanwhile, described the verdict and sentence as a serious injustice, via a spokeswoman for the Republican presidential candidate’s legal team in 2024.

We now know the date of Trump’s criminal trial

The New York State Court is preparing to begin criminal court proceedings relating to allegations of bribery in a case involving Donald Trump, with jury selection scheduled for March 25.

Donald Trump’s legal troubles are gathering momentum, and this trial is of historic significance as the first criminal prosecution of a former U.S. president.

Manhattan State Court Judge Juan Merchan denied the former president’s motion to dismiss, paving the way for this historic trial. Trump was indicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

The charges assert that these acts were part of an elaborate scheme to conceal extramarital affairs.

The indictment claims that Trump made payments to Michael Cohen, his former lawyer. These payments were made to silence claims by Stormy and Karen McDougal that Trump had had an affair with them. Trump vehemently rejects these allegations. According to the indictment, payments to Daniels and McDougal were disguised as legal fees, including $130,000 for Daniels.

And that’s the real problem.

Falsifying business records is considered a Class E misdemeanor in New York and carries a maximum sentence of 4 years. If Trump is found guilty, given that this case was brought by the state, he will not be allowed to pardon himself in 2024 if he wins the presidential election.

Despite these legal problems, Donald Trump remains a serious contender for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

According to some of the polls, he is the favorite against President Joe Biden.

In many key states, Mr. Trump is tied with or ahead of Mr. Biden.

Judge Merchan’s decision to pursue the case comes at a time of intense activity for Mr. Trump. He claims that his opponents are trying to undermine his comeback by bringing charges against him.

From March 25, then, the jury selection process begins, while the world will closely follow the progress of this historic court case, marking a new chapter in American legal and political history.

But first, let’s see how the Trump clan fares against prosecutor Fani Willis in Georgia… but that’s another story.

Epstein files: Some surprising names and some names we knew

Virginia Roberts Giuffre is one of many women who have accused late financier Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

A New York federal court has begun releasing documents relating to her civil defamation suit.

The suit, filed in 2015, had been brought against British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s well-known associate, who was also criminally accused. It thus enabled the public to discover Epstein’s complex network of relationships, notably with personalities from the worlds of politics, entertainment and business.

On Wednesday evening, a first wave of documents was revealed. It consists of 40 pieces representing hundreds of pages in which former US presidents, members of the British royal family and many other personalities have been named, including Michael Jackson, Stephen Hawking, David Copperfield, Prince Andrew, Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.

Getty Images

The files contain depositions from Giuffre, who repeatedly claimed to have been sexually abused and trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell. Giuffre’s shocking testimony highlights that Maxwell allegedly asked him to have sex with a number of influential men, including Prince Andrew, Marvin Minsky, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Jean-Luc Brunel and Glenn Dubin.

The leaked documents include references to the likes of Donald Trump and Bill Clinton. Allegations range from Epstein’s use of a private jet for travel, to offhand comments reflecting certain preferences when it comes to women.

Getty Images

After U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska issued an order stressing the importance of transparency and public interest in the legal proceedings, the court decided to unseal the documents. The judge postponed the publication of certain documents concerning individuals who had objected, citing the importance of protecting the privacy of individuals, including those who were either witnesses to the crime or victims themselves.

The unsealing has, as expected, reignited the debate over Epstein’s death, which occurred in August 2019 in a New York City jail cell. According to a Department of Justice report, Epstein committed suicide as a result of numerous failings on the part of prison employees. His death and the vast network of wealthy and powerful people he had built up were the subject of conspiracy theories and speculation for many years.

Getty Images

Giuffre’s legal team insisted that the publication of the documents was a means of combating sex trafficking and ensuring accountability. For many of those involved, directly or indirectly, the publication of these documents could mean a new period of scrutiny.

Further documents are expected to be released as the media and public scour the pages for further clarification of Epstein’s involvement.

This is a new chapter for many survivors, participants and witnesses in this case. It is another step in an arduous journey towards the truth and, ultimately, towards the end of the case.

Colorado Supreme Court rejects Trump’s 2024 presidential bid

Donald Trump cannot be a candidate in the 2024 presidential election in the state of Colorado, according to the state Supreme Court, which has just rejected his candidacy.

The Court ruled that the former president’s ties to the insurrection efforts of January 6, 2021 disqualified him from being President of the United States, since he had taken an oath to never act against or harm the country’s interests.

A spectacular decision that the Trump clan has of course promised to take all the way to the US Supreme Court.

Donald Trump’s official campaign speaks of a politicized gesture on the part of a Supreme Court it considers to be Democratic and biased.

Other experts believe that Trump’s links to the events of January 6, 2021 are clear enough to justify this decision.

Trump refuses to testify in his $250M fraud trial

Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he would not return to testify in the ongoing fraud case in New York, while he and his companies face civil charges in a $250 million lawsuit brought by New York prosecutor Letitia James.

The lawsuit alleges a decade-long scheme of financial fraud and misrepresentation by the former president in the Trump Organization to obtain favorable loan terms.

Recall that in early November, Donald Trump testified by taking a defensive stance and sharply criticizing Attorney General Letitia James, accusing her of being a political hack, and Judge Arthur Engoron, calling the latter hostile.

The New York Attorney General said in a press release that her office had already proven that Trump had committed financial fraud for years and that he and his family had unjustly enriched themselves.

The Attorney General will continue her cross-examination in the trial, which is due to resume on Tuesday.

The trial, which began on October 2, has entered its final phase.

Final arguments will be presented to the judge on January 19.
