Lady Gaga gets in touch with her masculinity

To promote her next video for the single You And I from her album Born This Way, theatrical pop performer Lady Gaga gets in touch with her masculine side by dressing up as male alter-ego Jo Calderone, reports Hitfix.

A year ago, Gaga suited up for a Vogues Hommes Japan fashion shoot styled by Nicola Formichetti – of meat dress fame – and shot by Nick Knight. The male model was listed as ‘Jo Calderone.’

The singer recently Tweeted new photos, apparently resurrecting Mr Calderone for You and I, writing "You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don’t love yourself.”

The black and white photos are well-styled, and if one didn’t know, with the sideburns, stubble, and facial expression, one would be hard-pressed to identify the subject as female.

Filmed in Nebraska last month, the video for You And I may also depict another of Gaga’s alter egos, a mermaid Yuyi.

The singer is planning to launch the video in conjunction with her 1,000th Tweet, and she’s currently around 995.

Katy Perry concerts have fans all a-Twitter

Pop star Katy Perry is partnering with the popular micro-blogging site Twitter to make her California Dreams 2011 Tour more interactive for fans by including their tweets as part of the show, reports Teen News.

Through technology called ‘Tweet-to-Screen,’ concert-goers will be able to submit messages and photos to the micro-blogging site and see them appear on two giant screens positioned on either side of the stage. Fans at home will be able to follow along through the tour diary on Perry’s official site.

Each concert will have a unique hashtag — a special word that Twitter uses to pull together all tweets on a particular subject — which Perry will reveal on the day of the event. After both automated and manual review, the messages and photos will appear on the giant screens, allowing fans to share their excitement and experience.

"This is the beginning of offline, online, fan and audience integration that creates a more engaging experience at the show," said Sam Decker, CEO of Mass Relevance, the company providing the Tweet-to-Screen technology.

"It also encourages fans to tweet and enables fans at home to see the excitement about the show, getting others even more excited about Katy and seeing her concert."

Lady Gaga takes a country road

Early this morning (March 25), Lady Gaga posted a link to YouTube on her Twitter feed, which leads web users to the new ‘country road version’ of her hit single Born This Way from the album of the same name.

“The Country Road Version of Born This Way. Produced By: Me + Fernando. Photo By: @popjustice ♥ http://bit.ly/goTPZf,” Tweeted Gaga.

While the first version was fully techno-electronic dance, this new stripped-down version lets us to hear what Lady Gaga would have sounded like had she been performing in the 1970s. It still sounds like Madonna’s Express Yourself – only with a harmonica and – is that a cowbell?

Borrowing all basic instruments of rock – guitar, drums, bass and even harmonica – the Country Road version of Born This Way showcases Gaga’s songwriting abilities – even after multiple layers of electronics have been removed.

Although the link for this new version leads to YouTube, there is no video accompanying it, just a black and white photo of the singer standing in front of a stop sign.

You can listen to Country Road version of Born This Way here.

Lady Gaga’s cheeky album promotion

On the stroke of midnight, Lady Gaga, 24, issued a Twitter message and photo to promote her upcoming album, Born This Way.

To ensure that her message, “The song 2 13 11 the record 5 23 11,” is in the New Year’s spotlight, the pop singer,24, has included a skin-baring black and white photograph by fashion photographer Nick Knight.

In the image, Gaga has her back to the camera, hair swinging wildly, while she sports nothing but a distressed leather bomber-style jacket. The back of the coat is adorned with sequins spelling out the album title Born This Way along with the outline of a unicorn. Her bare bottom juts out from under the jacket, with her left thigh featuring another unicorn image—this time a tattoo. One tries to imagine public reaction to a male pop star like Justin Bieber or Usher doing the same thing.

Having progressed from meat dress to rump of Gaga, the singer implied the single will be released February 13 and the album on May 23. She also included some of the lyrics on her Twitter page: “Don’t hide yourself in regret, just love yourself and you’re set. I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way.” Fans can read the message here.

Lending her vocal talent elsewhere, Gaga paired up with Elton John to record an original duet for the soundtrack to the forthcoming animated Disney feature film Gnomeo and Juliet. The song, titled Hello, Hello, is also scheduled for release in February 2011.

Twitter & Facebook Changing How We Travel

More and more, a trend is emerging when it comes to planning trips or vacations. Two Internet sites in particular, Facebook and Twitter are rocketing in popularity for gathering trip information. This phenomenon is due mainly to the fact that consumers are becoming more and more weary of Internet travel sites in terms of impartiality and of the information being released.

When Internet sites such as TripAdvisor or Yelp publish comments on a particular travel destination, Internet users and future travelers alike don’t necessarily buy into all the hyped-up comments and gushing testimonials found there. Savvy consumers are very aware that such comments often come from anonymous sources or even the owners of the destination itself! If comments are particularly negative, it may be coming from a direct competitor. There may even be secret deals going on between merchants and the Internet site in the form of kickbacks.

Enter Facebook and Twitter. With the ever-growing popularity of such Internet sites, comments left by users on the quality of a hotel, a restaurant, an airline or a travel destination, can generally be asserted as impartial. They come from our friends.

The trend is growing by leaps and bounds. So much so, that many companies and agencies are now setting up their own Facebook pages or using Twitter to attract more business.

Able to accomodate more than 6,200 passengers and more than 2,000 crew members, this sea monster will carry out its first trip on November 20, for a 2-day journey offering the experience to travel agents and the media.

During this cruise, 3 critics from CruiseCritic.com will offer their evaluations and you can experience their journey aboard this ship that was commissioned when the economy was flourishing. Using several tools, the critics will blog commentaries through Twitter or Facebook and post photos and online videos on November 19, the day before departure.
