Bono Loves Sexy Skivvies
Bono recently revealed that he loves when his wife, Alison Hewson, wears enticing underwear.
Although the U2 singer and Hewson have been married for 27 years, and have four children together, it appears that the fires are still burning. In fact, it seems that the fire is as hot as it was nearly 30 years ago!
At the Robert F. Kennedy for Justice and Human Rights Ripple of Hope awards on Wednesday (November 18), the singer revealed of his wife, "She wears really, really attractive underwear."
The 49-year-old music icon was being recognized at the event for his work in various charities. Singer Wyclef Jean was also a guest of honour that evening.
Bono added that he was delighted to receive the honour. He then dedicated the evening to all of those who have joined him in the One campaign, which encourages leaders of countries around the world to continue their battle against poverty.
The MTV Europe Awards were held last night (November 5), and crowned Beyoncé and Jay-Z the new king and queen of the music scene.
Without a doubt, Beyoncé was the belle of the ball, dominating the evening with three awards. She earned trophies in the Best Female Artist, Best Song and Best Video categories.
The star’s win for Best Video was sure to bring a smile to Kanye West’s face. At the recent American MTV Awards, West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech because he felt Beyoncé should have won that trophy.
Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z was also a winner for Best Hip-Hop Artist, meaning that the star couple took home 4 trophies from the event.
Held in Berlin, the gala also honoured the 20th anniversary of the falling of the Berlin Wall in 1989. For the special occasion, U2 gave a free performance of 6 songs for a crowd of 10 000 people at the Brandenburg Gate. Ironically, to prevent people without tickets from attending the free show, organisers erected a barrier wall around the stage.
The winners at the MTV Europe Awards are:
- Best Video – Single Ladies – Beyoncé
- Best Song – Halo – Beyoncé
- Best Group – Tokio Hotel
- Best Female Artist – Beyoncé
- Best Male Artist – Eminem
- Best Rock Artist – Green Day
- Best Hip-Hop Artist – Jay-Z
- Best Alternative Artist – Placebo
- Best New Artist – Lady GaGa
- Best Concert – U2
U2 Breaks Their Own 22-Year Record
U2 gave a show last week in Pasadena, California (October 25), which was broadcast live on YouTube, which led the Irish band to establish a new American record for the biggest crowd ever to be filmed in a streaming video for a single headliner show.
The 97,014-person crowd beat a 22-year record that was also set by none other than U2 themselves. Bono and his group also hold the top three positions on the list, since, in addition to the October 25 show, the band held a 86,145-spectator concert at Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Stadium on September 25, 1987.
The third most crowd-attracting show in the United States took place not too long ago, when the group performed at FedEx Field on September 25 in Landover, Maryland.
In addition to the biggest crowd recorded in history with a single headliner, the Pasadena show landed in second place in terms of concert earnings totalling 9.9 million dollars. The only group to have beaten U2 was The Three Tenors, formed by Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo, when they performed at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and earned a total of 13,404,350 dollars in front of a crowd of only 58,491 people.
U2 Commemorates Fall of Berlin Wall
While their live concert broadcast on YouTube remains fresh in the memories of 7 million fans, U2 has announced that they will be giving another unforgettable concert. They will perform in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate in celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 5.
7 Million Viewers Watch U2 on YouTube
One of the most popular groups of all time and one of the biggest stages in rock history were the perfect elements to drive people to watch YouTube on Sunday (October 25), when U2 performed live in Pasadena, California.
Fans in 16 different countries could watch the historic concert, featuring the Irish band playing no less than 24 songs, including Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, Mysterious Ways, Vertigo, One and With Or Without You, in addition to performing several other songs off their latest album, No Line on the Horizon.
In addition to the 7 million people who flooded the Internet, Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium welcomed 96 000 spectators.
A recording of the show can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/u2.
Oasis Nominated Despite Split
The troubled group Oasis, who recently announced they’ve split for good, received a nomination in two categories for the annual Q Awards ceremony, where trophies are handed out by Britain’s Q magazine, which has been specializing in music since 1986.
Oasis has landed in the Best Act in the World Today category alongside the groups Muse, Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay.
The Manchester band, founded in 1991, was also nominated in the Best Live Act category, running against U2, Blur, The Prodigy, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys and Take That.
Although the estranged Gallagher brothers were both invited to the ceremony, it is highly unlikely that they will reunite.
U2 in Montreal on July 16
After they gave their live YouTube concert performance last night, the Irish group has announced that Montreal will be added to their itinerary this summer; July 16 to be exact.
The last time U2 performed in Quebec was on November 25 and 28, 2009 at the Bell Centre during their Vertigo tour.
This time, U2 may have to give their show at the Olympic Stadium, due to their immense circulating stage that cannot be installed at Bell Centre.
U2 is set to arrive during the usual dates of Quebec’s Summer Festival, which could put a damper on hopes for Quebec City, although shows are already scheduled for July 12 in Philadelphia and July 19 in New York. It takes a minimum of 3 days between shows to take down and reconstruct the U2 360o stage.
Other Canadian dates for 2010 include a performance in Edmonton on June 23 and one in Toronto on July 3. The group will wrap up the first leg of the tour on Wednesday night in Vancouver (October 28).
U2 Live on the Net
The show will take place in Pasadena, California on Sunday (October 25). The concert, which is part of the U2 360° Tour, will be aired live on YouTube.
The band’s manager, Paul McGuiness, confirmed the news yesterday, adding that, "the band had wanted to do something like this for a long time." He added, "Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally."
The show will be broadcast in 16 countries, including Canada, Australia, Brazil, England, France, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, and the United States. The show begins at 23:30 EST, on Sunday, October 25.
U2 Working On Next Album
According to Rolling Stone magazine, who sent a journalist to follow the band’s tour, U2 is already laying the groundwork for a new album.
The Irish group told journalist Brian Hiatt that the album’s name has already been chosen, but did not reveal a release date.
Bono and The Edge are currently working on the musical Spider-Man, which opens on Broadway on February 18, 2010.
U2’s 360° tour is currently circling the globe to promote the band’s last release, No Line On The Horizon, which dropped on February 27.
