The star will join the film adaptation of the British series UFO. The series was a hit in the 1970s and enjoyed a cult following of viewers.
The film will be directed by special effects supervisor Matthew Gratzner, who worked on such films as Iron Man and the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, Shutter Island, opening next year.
Jackson will play Paul Foster, a test pilot who joins S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization), which strives to protect Earth against an extraterrestrial race that uses humans for body parts.
The film will be produced by Henri M. Kessler and Avi Haas, who plan to begin shooting in the United Kingdom this coming spring. The screenplay has been entrusted to Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek.
Joshua Jackson also starred in the series Dawson’s Creek. In film, he was known for his roles in Cruel Intentions and Bobby. Meanwhile, he stars in the popular series Fringe.
