Spice Girls back in the studio

The Spice Girls are back in the recording studio.

Geri Horner and Emma Bunton – who make up two of the original five members of the girl group alongside Mel B, Mel C and Victoria Beckham – have taken to Instagram to share an image of the two of them in a studio ahead of the 21st anniversary of their debut single ‘Wannabe’.

The photo, posted to Geri’s Instagram account, was simply captioned: "In studio, oooooh @emmaleebunton (sic)"

But any new music to come out of the studio sessions won’t be branded as Spice Girls music, as Mel C and Victoria are refusing to take part in the reunion, leaving Emma and Geri – who announced she is pregnant last month – to form a trio with Mel B called GEM.

The talk of new music will be good news for Victoria, 42, as she previously admitted she doesn’t want the trio to sing Spice Girls material when they go out on their reunion tour.

She said: "Of course, as a new group, I do [wish them luck]. I do think they should sing new material, though, because what we did as the Spice Girls was so special. If they sang Spice Girls songs, I think I might be a bit sad."

The studio visit comes after Geri, 44, Emma, 40, and Mel B, 41, announced back in July that they would be heading out on a reunion tour.

They said in a video: "You’ve stood by us for 20 years and we want to say a big thank you.

"We’ve had our ups and downs but you have always been there. We want to celebrate and have a party, and when we do, you’re invited."

Mel C won’t return to Spice Girls for daughter

Mel C is adamant she won’t reunite with the Spice Girls – not even for her daughter.

The 42-year-old pop star has revealed that seven-year-old Scarlet – her child with ex-boyfriend Thomas Starr – loves the group’s many pop hits, which include ‘Spice Up Your Life’, ‘2 Become 1’ and ‘Say You’ll Be There’.

Although Scarlet has never seen her perform with the other Spices and would love to, Mel is still sticking with her decision to not join Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B for a concert and new music to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut single ‘Wannabe’ and first album ‘Spice’.

In an interview on ‘This Morning’, she said: "[Scarlet] does like my music, thank goodness! I’d say she’s my harshest critic but she’s my biggest fan. And she loves the Spice Girls."

When Ben asked if her daughter wanted her to return to the Spice Girls, Mel admitted: "It’s a tricky one because … I’d love for her to see me on stage with the girls, but no, she’s been quite grown up about it really. She lives everything with me and I feel that she understands."

Mel – previously known as Sporty Spice – made the decision to refuse the reunion to focus on her solo album, just as fifth member Victoria Beckham declined to be involved because she needs to concentrate on her fashion label.

During the interview, host Holly Willoughby begged her: "Please do it on behalf of girls everywhere!"

To which Mel replied: "I know there are people that want to see it. But there were various reasons … but the one thing that I couldn’t get away from was that, we did reunite as a five piece [for the Olympics] and it was so incredible, and for me we are like a jigsaw puzzle and if there’s a piece missing it’s not complete. We’re not a band of interchangeable parts. So for me, it didn’t feel right."

Holly’s co-host Ben Shepherd then suggested that if she did agree, then Victoria might also to complete the jigsaw, prompting Mel to exclaim with a laugh: "Yeah, that’s not going to happen is it? I’m not saying no forever, but right now, it just didn’t feel right."

Mel has just released her new solo album ‘Version of Me’ and will be heading out on tour in support of the LP.

Mel B still hoping Victoria Beckham and Mel C will re-join The Spice Girls

Mel B hasn’t given up hope that Victoria Beckham and Mel C will be part of The Spice Girls reunion.

Scary Spice is due to get together with Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – who is pregnant with her first child with her husband Christian Horner – next year for a proposed concert and potentially new music to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut single ‘Wannabe’ and first album ‘Spice’.

Victoria and Mel C – known as Posh Spice and Sporty Spice in the band – have both publicly ruled themselves out of the reunion, with Posh wanting to focus on her fashion label and Sporty concentrating on her solo music.

However, Mel B has hinted there still maybe a chance the two members could be convinced to be part of the Spice Girls’ get-together.

Quizzed on what was happening with Victoria and Mel C on Australian breakfast TV show ‘Sunrise’, she quipped: "I killed the other two!"

Mel B, 41, then added: "Who said they’re not going to possibly be involved? Until it actually gets going, everything’s a bit up in the air."

Admitting she is "bored" of the questions about the Spice Girls reunion, the 41-year-old singer insisted people just needed to wait for the plans to be finalized.

She said: "Until we’ve got something to announce, it’s the same old, same old. We are looking to do something, it’s just a case of when."

The ‘I Want You Back ‘ hitmaker was less than impressed when hosts Kochie and Natalie Barr suggested her fellow ‘The X Factor Australia’ judge Iggy Azalea could join the group.

She exclaimed: "There’s only five Spice Girls in the whole entire world, and that’s it, so zip it!"

Mel B – full name Melanie Brown – was also quizzed during the TV appearance if there is any tension between her and Iggy on the panel of the talent show and she told the hosts to stop trying to cause trouble.

The outspoken star – who is also joined on the panel by Guy Sebastian and Adam Lambert – said: "She’s got a massive career, she’s highly successful, and we get on. I know you’re trying to get some rivalry between me and Iggy, but there isn’t any. Maybe there will be soon."

At the end of the interview, Kochie wrapped things up by saying: "Don’t miss Mel on ‘X Factor’, 7:30 tonight – how will she and Iggy get on?"

And that prompted Mel B to jokingly storm off set as she said: "Oh gosh, what is all this? I’m leaving!"

Mel C rejected Spice Girls for daughter

Mel C rejected the Spice Girls reunion to concentrate on her daughter.

The 42-year-old star followed in Victoria Beckham’s footsteps by turning down the chance to join forces with Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B for the ‘Wannabe’ hitmakers’ 20th anniversary comeback, and now admits it was because of seven-year-old Scarlet.

She said: "I had to think about myself and the most important thing in my life, which is being a mother to my little girl. I had to be present for her.

"It was a hard decision, not only letting down the girls but all the fans who want it to happen.

"But we’re four individuals, we’ve gone on to have separate lives and careers and want different things.

"We always said we had to be comfortable but lots of people were getting involved and I wasn’t comfortable with the direction that it was taking."

While the singer loves her bandmates like sisters, she isn’t happy with how some of them "behave" at times and doesn’t know why Mel B, 41, recently unfollowed her on Twitter.

She added to The Sun newspaper: "Things were tough between me and Mel. The unfollowing thing, I know Mel and she’s hot-headed.

"I’d never done anything to upset her specifically, so I don’t know why she did it.

"But we’ve built bridges and we’re absolutely fine and friends.

"And she’s apologised to me for anything that happened way back 20 years ago.

"Sometimes I’m not very happy with the way some of them behave but if any of them ever needed me I’m there for them and they’re there for me."

In June, it was reported Mel B had unfollowed Mel C on both Twitter and Instagram.

Earlier this month, Mel C admitted 44-year-old Geri’s pregnancy announcement made the group think about what is "really important" in life.

She said: "Thank God Geri is pregnant because it’s made us go, ‘Oh my god, this is what’s really important’.

"Let’s face it, we are all in our 40s, we are all mothers, we all have partners, we all have careers.

"Of course it’s been awkward – relationships have their ups and downs.

"I haven’t spoken to Melanie for a while though. It’s not that I’m not speaking to her but I haven’t spoken to her for a long time."

Gamer girl Chloe Grace Moretz

Chloe Grace Moretz started gaming when she was "three or four" because she loved being able to take down her older brothers in video games.

The 19-year-old actress and her four siblings, Brandon, Trevor, Colin, and Ethan, all enjoyed competing against one another and she always enjoyed turning on the console to take them on because the virtual world gave her a level playing field compared to their sports matches.

In an interview with website Refinery29, she shared: "I grew up in a family with four older brothers. I never really had any gender cues in my life – I did ballet, jazz, tap; I did basketball and soccer; and I played video games. Video games were a part of my life since I was three or four years old, watching my brothers play and me wanting to play. What I liked about it above a physical sport was that I could fully take down my foot-and-a-half-taller older brother by just being a better gamer than him. It was a good way to even the playing field between us.

"When you’re in the game, you’re the player, and it doesn’t matter if you’re an 800-pound man or 95-pound girl – it’s just whether or not you’re a good gamer."

Chloe insists more girls she could get into gaming because it’s a "fun" way of interacting with guys.

She said: "Gaming is fun, and it’s a fun way for guys and girls to have some friendly competition and even the playing field. It’s not a wrestling match – they can’t overpower you. It’s a fun way girls can exercise their strength."

When she gets the chance, Chloe enjoys gaming now and finds it’s a great way to forget about the stresses of her Hollywood career.

The ‘Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising’ star – who previously dated Brooklyn Beckham, the son of David and Victoria Beckham – says her love of video games has helped her acting, because it has widened her imagination.

She said: "Video games are just a heightened form of imagination. There are amazing experiences you couldn’t do in everyday life – it’s like you’re watching a movie … Video games in general really are role-playing. From a young age, I was able to jump into these super-stylized, wild roles and characters through video games. With a movie like ‘Kick-Ass’, when I was 11 years old, I was probably more open to and more excited about it because I had played video games at a young age. I think video games can help build your imagination as a kid."

Victoria Beckham: Harper has a better social life than me

Victoria Beckham says her daughter has a "better social life" than her.

Harper Beckham is only five years old, but her 42-year-old mum says she’s "very sociable" and has "a lot of friends".

The fashion designer also has three sons, Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, and Cruz, 11, with her husband David Beckham and it makes her very proud to see them all "happy" and "confident".

She told the November issue of Vogue Australia magazine: "[Harper] works very hard at school and is very sociable, so has a lot of friends. She has a better social life than I do! My children are all very happy and that’s the most crucial thing – they are happy, confident and secure in themselves."

Victoria’s latest comments come after she admitted she doesn’t have much of a "social life" because her four children are her "first priority" in life.

The former Spice Girl said: "[I don’t] have a social life. My four children and David are my first priority. When there’s a play on or a parent/teacher meeting, I’m there. David and I are rarely away at the same time. We do the homework, the bath time and the bed time. Paying someone to do those things for you to make your life easier isn’t wrong but they’re important to me."

And whilst Victoria can’t say for sure if her children will follow in her footsteps and get involved with her self-titled fashion label, the kids are showing an interest in her line of work and share her passion for style.

She said previously: "Brooklyn wants to be a photographer, he loves art. Obviously he shot the fragrance campaign for Burberry, so maybe he’ll be a fashion photographer.

"Romeo enjoyed working with Burberry too, and Harper and Cruz are too young to tell, but they love fashion.

"They all take a lot of pride in the way they look. When we go out for dinner as a family, they all put their little looks together. Cruz spends a lot of time making sure his hair is just right."

Melanie Chisolm hates Mel C name

Melanie Chisolm hates the name Mel C.

The 42-year-old pop star has never liked the moniker which she has been known as since her time in the Spice Girls, in which she was also known as Sporty Spice.

Melanie dislikes the title because she associates it with negativity.

She said: "The Mel C thing has always really bugged me. Because in my brain it links to negative headlines. I don’t know why, it just irks me. It’s not my name."

As well as wanting to distance herself from the Mel C name, the ‘Anymore’ singer has also distanced herself from the Spice Girls refusing to reunite with Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B for new music and a concert to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Melanie admits she does feel "guilty" about spurning the reunion but she just wants to focus on her solo career and the release of her latest album ‘Version of Me’.

In an interview with The I newspaper, she said: "I feel bad and I feel guilty. There’s a lot of negativity that surrounds it and there shouldn’t be really. I’m not turning my back on the Spice Girls – I’m very proud of them…"

The ‘I Turn to You’ hitmaker made her decision to not reunite with the Spice Girls after learning that former member Victoria Beckham would not be returning to the group.

She said: "It was just irking me that going back as a four-piece didn’t quite cut it. With people out of the mix, whoever it is, the dynamic changes. It becomes a very different thing … It’s interesting psychologically."

Mel C’s Spice Girls doubts

Mel C doesn’t think the Spice Girls will let her sing with them because she snubbed their reunion plans.

The ‘Viva Forever’ hitmaker has admitted that despite turning down the chance to rejoin the girl group she would find it "weird" seeing them perform without her and would probably want to get up on stage with them.

When asked how she would feel like if she saw her bandmates – Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel B – perform as a trio, she said: "I think I’ll find it weird.

"People have talked to me about the gigs and they’re like, ‘Are you going to go?’ I’d find it really weird."

Despite not being involved in the reunion, Mel – who was known as Sporty Spice in the group – said she will always be supportive of the girls and Victoria Beckham, who also chose not to rejoin the band.

She told The Sun newspaper: "I want to support the girls, of course! I think I’d probably have to get up with them. They’d be like, ‘Get off, you said no!’ "

The brunette beauty – who is gearing up to release her solo LP ‘Version Of Me’ – previously admitted she considered getting back together with the girls at one point, but it was too late when they finally got together to discuss their plans.

When asked if she’ll be making a Spice Girls comeback alongside her fellow bandmates, she said: "Good luck to them. I’m very grateful to whoever decided to make a big deal of Wannabe’s anniversary, but it’s now become this ridiculous thing.

"We all enjoyed playing at the Olympics in 2012. OK, Victoria not so much. I think she found that type of attention overwhelming … the rest of us agreed to keep the door open. We said in a year or so we’d get together to see what we thought but we never got around to organising anything and by the time talk of the anniversary came round I’d decided against it."

Victoria Beckham has no social life

Victoria Beckham doesn’t have a social life.

The 42-year-old fashion designer insists her work and her family life with husband David Beckham and their children Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 11, and five-year-old Harper keeps her very busy as she’d rather be a hands-on mother than employ staff to raise her kids.

She told the Sunday People: "I don’t have a social life. My four children and David are my first priority. When there’s a play on or a parent/teacher meeting, I’m there.

"David and I are rarely away at the same time. We do the homework, the bathtime and the bedtime.

"Every day, we take Harper to school. She gets her scooter out of the boot, scoots inside and turns around to wave goodbye.

Paying someone to do those things for you to make your life easier isn’t wrong but they’re important to me."

The former Spice Girls singer, who suffered from severe acne when she was younger, makes frequent visits to skin specialist Sarah Chapman for facials – but sometimes lies to her husband as to her whereabouts.

She admitted: "I try to see Sarah Chapman at least once a month but I’ve been known to tell David I’ve been to a meeting when really I’ve gone to Chelsea to see Sarah. He’ll say, ‘How come you’re back from the meeting not wearing make-up?. You’re not wearing make-up, which isn’t like you!’."

But Victoria insists she’ll never have cosmetic surgery on her face.

She added: "I’m not going to be one of those women with a 70-year-old body and a 25 year old’s face. Let’s hope it becomes more acceptable for women to age."

Victoria Beckham’s appearance-proud children

Victoria Beckham’s children take "a lot of pride" in their appearance.

The 42-year-old fashion designer – who has sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, and Cruz, 11, and daughter Harper, five, with husband David – still doesn’t know whether her kids will want to follow in her footsteps, but they already share her passion for style.

She said: "Brooklyn wants to be a photographer, he loves art.

"Cruz spends a lot of time making sure his hair is just right."

While Brooklyn and Romeo have undertaken modeling work in the past, Victoria and David insist their school work comes first and would only agree to any of their kids taking on campaigns if they truly wanted to be involved.

Victoria told Grazia magazine: "I think they’ve got to want to do it, it’s got to be fun. School work always has to come first, but Burberry is a brand that is almost like family.

"I’m friends with Christopher Bailey and it was he who actually said, ‘I’d love it if the kids would do the campaign.’ And it was fun, they enjoyed it."
