According to Ontario researchers, vitamin E, selenium and soy do not prevent the onset of prostate cancer.
"There has been a collection of scientific data that has suggested that these agents could have a tremendous impact in preventing prostate cancer. So there was great hope that this would be a magic bullet that would help prevent prostate cancer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be so," stated Dr. Neil E. Fleshner, the principal author of the study at University of Toronto.
Dr. Fleshner worked with 303 men having precancerous lesions, to whom he gave vitamin E, selenium and soy. Over the course of the years, the candidates underwent biopsies which showed no significant improvement in their remission of prostate cancer.
