Arcade Fire helps Haiti

Many consider Arcade Fire to be one of the most influential bands of the decade. The group is allowing its hit song Wake Up to be played during the Super Bowl next Sunday (February 7). All profits will go to help Haiti.

It’s no surprise that the Haitian cause hits close to home for Arcade Fire. Singer and co-founder Régine Chassagne has roots there as a lot of her family hails from Haiti.

"These days, nothing is funny. I am mourning people I know. People I don’t know. People who are still trapped under rubble and won’t be rescued in time. I can’t help it. Everybody I talk to says the same thing: time has stopped," the singer writes in the British paper The Guardian.

Their song Wake Up, from their first album Funeral, will be heard during the Sunday telecast. The group has never licensed the rights to song before but are doing so now for the Haitian relief effort.
