Lenovo’s new Slim Pro laptop has a mini-LED display

Following up on last week’s Lenovo gaming laptop announcement, the company is back with several new Windows 11 laptops for work and creativity.

The new laptops include the Slim Pro 9i Gen 8, Slim Pro 7 Gen 8, Slim 7i Gen 8 and Yoga 7.

Lenovo’s Slim Pro 9i (pictured above) is the flagship offering, boasting 14.5- or 16-inch PureSight Pro displays, Lenovo X Power, and more. PureSight Pro is a new display technology available on several of Lenovo’s new laptops that uses mini0LED technology to offer up to 1200nits of brightness and colour accuracy by hitting 100 percent of both DCI-P3 and the Adobe RGB colour gamut.

Lenovo X Power, on the other hand, is a set of hardware and software features that work together to improve various experiences. An example offered by Lenovo is that X Power can “drastically” speed up software preview, rendering and exports when editing video.

Lenovo Slim Pro 7

Beyond X Power and PureSight Pro, the Slim Pro 9i offers up to 13th Gen Intel Core CPUs and an Nvidia RTX 4070 laptop GPU.

Finally, there’s the AI Engine+, which is available on the 9i and other Slim Pro laptops. It helps improve performance by anticipating power or battery needs based on what users are doing with the laptop.

Slim Pro 7, Slim 7i and Yoga 7 series

Lenovo Slim 7i

Moving on to the other laptops, Lenovo aims to pack performance into sleek designs.

The Slim Pro 7 sports a 14.5-inch PureSight Pro display with up to a 3K resolution, 400 nights of brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. Lenovo didn’t note the CPU options for the Slim Pro 7, but did say it’ll use either the Nvidia RTX 3050 or 4050 laptop GPUs.

The Slim 7i, on the other hand, sports the latest generation 13th Gen Intel Core CPUs.

Lenovo Yoga 7

Finally, the Yoga 7 and 7i offer 360-degree hinges — as standard with the Yoga line — so that users can take advantage of a typical clamshell laptop experience or fold the device into a tablet. The Yoga series offers either the latest 13th Gen Intel or AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU with a 2.8K OLED 16:10 display.

Availability

Harry Styles takes up yoga to relieve stress

Harry Styles has taken up yoga to relieve stress.

The One Direction star is currently travelling the world on the group’s ‘On the Road Again’ tour and with his bandmate Zayn Malik being forced to deny cheating rumors and Louis Tomlinson splitting from his long-term girlfriend it appears Harry has turned to yoga and meditation to help distract him from their woes.

A source said: ”When Harry was in Bangkok he travelled for 40 minutes on his own to see one temple and embrace his spiritual side.

”He’s been meditating and doing yoga in Thailand and also spent time wandering around markets to soak up the culture.”

Zayn – who is engaged to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards – hit the headlines when pictures emerged of him holding hands with a backpacker named Lauren Richardson and was subsequently signed off the tour with the stress.

Meanwhile, Louis split from his girlfriend Eleanor Calder several weeks ago.

In the wake of the split, he was photographed kissing a mystery girl in a swimming pool in Thailand.

However, while Harry is enjoying nights out with the pair – and their fellow bandmates Liam Payne and Niall Horan – it’s believed he’s more interested in soaking up the culture in all the amazing countries they’ve been visiting.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: ”Harry likes to party but he thinks it’s important to have some balance.

”It can be seriously stressful being on the road all the time so it’s good for him to explore the countries.”

Orlando Bloom’s yoga date with Demi Moore

Orlando Bloom enjoyed a yoga date with Demi Moore.

The ‘Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ star and the 52-year-old actress are believed to have grown close after being set up by their mutual friend Jennifer Aniston and have bonded over their passion for the spiritual exercise class.

A source said: ”They are both deeply spiritual characters who love yoga, meditation and new age philosophies. They’ve both been initiated into spiritual practise Usui Reiki and have started to practise on each other.”

Orlando, 38 – who split from his wife Miranda Kerr in 2013 – is said to be casually dating Demi, who ended her six year marriage to Ashton Kutcher the same year.

The source said: ”At this stage it’s a casual thing, nothing serious and it’s not yet exclusive. But they’ve enjoyed several low-key dates together and the potential is definitely there for something steadier.”

The brunette beauty has grown fond of Orlando’s positive attitude and believes he will be a good influence over her and her daughters Rumer, 26, Scout, 23 and Tallulah, 21, from her marriage to Bruce Willis.

The insider told Grazia magazine: ”The thing Demi loves the most about Orlando is how positive he is. His uplifting influence is just what she feels she needs, as do her daughters – particularly Tallulah.”

Yoga: fun for the whole family?

Although more scientific research is needed to confirm the full range of benefits yoga has for children, the activity can provide a gentle and calming way to help kids get more physical activity, explain the staff of the Mayo Clinic.

When doing yoga, children should be instructed to focus on the basics – such as the link between breathing and poses – rather than worrying too much about having the right form.

The routine should always begin with a relaxing warm up to quiet the mind, and then move on to breathing exercises.

When it comes time to do the postures, the children should use gentle stretching movements. Many instructors will use pictures of plants and animals to help kids understand the poses.

After the exercise, there is a period of cool down and relaxation, where the child will sit or lie on the floor and focus on breathing. Finally, in the ‘reawakening’ stage, children can stretch and wriggle before rising back up from the floor.

Children should avoid the more extreme forms of yoga like ashtanga or bikram. Find a safe space to work out – avoid yoga studios that use candles and incense or overheated rooms – and make sure that children don’t overdo it.

Parents should seek yoga instructors who have experience working with the age group. Observing a class prior to registration can help ensure both you and your child are comfortable with the teaching style.

Yoga benefits cancer survivors

If cancer survivors practice yoga, it not only improves the quality of their sleep, but also their quality of life in general.

80% of cancer patients complain of getting a lower quality of sleep and 65% of them say their problems persist even after treatment has ended.

410 people, mostly breast cancer survivors, participated in a study by the University of Rochester in the United States. Those who practiced yoga improved the quality of their sleep by 22%.

Professor Karen Mustian said, "Sleep problems and fatigue are common side effects affecting individuals who survived cancer, disorders that can impair their quality of life."

42% of people practicing yoga had decreased general fatigue, while only 12% of participants in the control group were less fatigued.
