Susan Boyle Reigns Over YouTube

Susan Boyle’s first appearance on the British television show, Britain’s Got Talent, has been unquestionably the most-watched clip of 2009 on YouTube.  Her performance of the song I Dreamed a Dream, lasting anywhere from 4 to 7 minutes depending on which version you select, shot around the globe like a cyber comet.

According to YouTube, the singer’s April 11, 2009 performance has been viewed more than 120 million times during the past eight months, making her the queen of the site for 2009.  In the second seat of popularity is a video of a little boy returning from the dentist, though he lags far behind with only 37 million viewers.

The story of Susan Boyle is truly a fairy tale.  Her recently released debut album has shattered several records for sales and presales, and all of this comes during a particularly difficult time in the music industry.  Boyle’s disc, I Dreamed A Dream, still tops several charts in Canada and the United States.

U2 Breaks Their Own 22-Year Record

U2 gave a show last week in Pasadena, California (October 25), which was broadcast live on YouTube, which led the Irish band to establish a new American record for the biggest crowd ever to be filmed in a streaming video for a single headliner show.

The 97,014-person crowd beat a 22-year record that was also set by none other than U2 themselves. Bono and his group also hold the top three positions on the list, since, in addition to the October 25 show, the band held a 86,145-spectator concert at Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Stadium on September 25, 1987.

The third most crowd-attracting show in the United States took place not too long ago, when the group performed at FedEx Field on September 25 in Landover, Maryland.

In addition to the biggest crowd recorded in history with a single headliner, the Pasadena show landed in second place in terms of concert earnings totalling 9.9 million dollars. The only group to have beaten U2 was The Three Tenors, formed by Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo, when they performed at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and earned a total of 13,404,350 dollars in front of a crowd of only 58,491 people.

U2 Commemorates Fall of Berlin Wall

While their live concert broadcast on YouTube remains fresh in the memories of 7 million fans, U2 has announced that they will be giving another unforgettable concert. They will perform in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate in celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 5.

As part of the MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, where concert images will be broadcast, and as part of a prelude to the Fall of the Wall, U2 will give a free show in front of the Brandenburg Gate, which used to symbolize the border between the East and West Germany at the height of the Cold War. Built in August 1961, the wall came down in 1989 in the state of Hesse, which marked a historical reunion.
According to Music-News, band manager Paul McGuiness said, "It’ll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years to the day since the wall came down."
People wanting to attend the concert can get tickets on U2’s Website or through their local MTV Website. 10,000 tickets are available. However, tickets were going fast after the show was announced yesterday.
