Tarantino Putting Final Touches on His Film

The theatre version of the film Inglorious Basterds will be longer than the one shown in Cannes.

Variety reports that Quentin Tarantino has taken his film, Inglorious Basterds, back to the editing room.

The director stated that he wanted to present the film in Cannes ever since he began filming last fall.

He followed through with his goals, since the film was presented and officially entered into the competition on May 20. Critics had mixed reviews.

The version presented at the festival lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes, but the version to be released in theatres will be 20 minutes longer.

According to inside sources, a few scenes that had been cut will be added to the film.

Tarantino omitted the last scene with Maggie Cheung, so that he wouldn’t offend Isabelle Huppert, the presiding judge in Cannes, who previously took on the role. The director became fed up with the French actress’s diva-like behaviour, and ended up replacing her with Cheung.

Inglorious Basterds will hit the screens on August 21.
