The 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible

While auto makers have been upping their game by coming out with stellar convertibles, Infiniti has stepped up to the plate.

With the arrival of the new Lexus IS convertible, it was only proper that Nissan would come out with a topless version of the Infiniti G37 Coupe, despite the prevalence of German auto makers in the convertible sector.

Inspired by Essence Concept

Inspiration for the G37 was derived from within. The Essence Concept, which was presented at the Geneva motor show, acted as the central theme for designers at Nissan, with emphasis on fluid lines. The two-seater concept offered a  gas-powered motor coupled with an electric motor to deliver a total of 592 hp. The concept also included a set of Louis Vuitton-designed luggage customized to perfectly fit the trunk.

Hard top – for better or for worse

The G37 Coupe was destined to be transformed into a topless beauty, granted its nearly perfect proportions. The transformation required redesign from the A-pillar to the rear. The roof consumes a majority of the trunk space, as often the case, and takes 30 seconds to open or close completely.
