The Montrealers’ rest seemed to motivate them at the start of the game.
Indeed, they started the game strongly. At the end of a power play, Alex Newhook scored his second goal in three games.

And moments later, Kaiden Guhle took advantage of Jesse Ylonen’s beautiful pass to double the lead.
It was his second goal of the season.

Samuel Montembeault had an excellent first period, so much so that Habs fans tried to convince the Oilers on X.

In the second period, Mason McTavish woke up. The top scorer among players under 20 scored his ninth of the season.

Then, after a Mike Matheson goal, Captain Canada scored his second of the game.

In the third period, with the CH still leading by a goal, Samuel Montembeault made one of the finest saves of the season against Frank Vatrano.
Wow!
WHAT A SAVE 👏 👏

But that same Vatrano got his revenge midway through the period.
Assisted by McTavish, he scored his 13th goal of the season.

Just as it looked like both teams were heading for overtime, Alex Newhook scored his second goal of the game.
The goal propelled number 15 to the top of the team’s scoring charts. He has as many goals as Sean Monahan and Nick Suzuki (6).
Great work by Jake Evans to win the puck battle and set up Alex Newhook for his second goal.
Habs lead 4-3.

That’s how the first game of the Tricolore’s trip ended.
Final score: 4-3 Canadian. It had been nearly a month since the CH had won in regulation time.
Martin St-Louis’s troupe, which ended a four-game losing streak, returns to action on Friday against the Sharks. Please note the time: 3:30 p.m., Quebec time.
Prolongation
– A fine plateau for Mony.
