The Dead Weather are not left out in the cold

Prolific producer, writer and musician Jack White works with The Dead Weather to release a new album.

Last year, musician Jack White launched a third group. He is already the founder of White Stripes and The Raconteurs. He decided to get behind the drums instead of his guitar with this third band. They released their first album Horehound last year. Besides White, The Dead Weather consists of members of Queens of the Stone Age, The Kills and The Greenhornes.

A follow-up album was supposed to be released in April. The problem is that Jack White is a busy man. He also runs a record company that he founded in 2001. So on top of the three groups (as if that wasn’t enough!), he also presides over album production of artists in the Third Man family.

He produced Loretta Lynn’s new album, Van Lear Rose, and even sings a duet with her. Lynn is impressed with White. She says, "He’s got a lot of energy. He’s still a kid, you know, so he feels like he can jump the river and turn around and jump back over. He don’t think that nobody’s any older than him."

Happily for fans who loved The Dead Weather’s first album, White did find the time to finish the group’s second album. He describes it as "bluesier and heavier than we ever thought we could be."

Fans can be the judge. Sea of Cowards will be released on May 7. In the meantime, the group promises an online release of the album’s first single, Die By The Drop.
