The Last Images of Michael Jackson

The last images of Michael Jackson will become the subject of a new film.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures is about to acquire the rights to the last footage of Michael Jackson.

Sony hopes to make a film that would present at least three videos, including the alternate version of Thriller, which was to be shown during the O2 shows in London.

AEG Entertainment owns the images of Jackson rehearsing for his This Is It! concert series.  The company introduced 80 hours of the footage to the film studio last week, and it appears that Sony will move forward with the project.

Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) shot the images of Jackson rehearsing.  Most likely, he will also be directing the film project.  Sony may be able to release the film before the end of the year.

AEG Entertainment has also sold the rights to the tribute concert held in Jackson’s honour.  It could possibly be released on August 29, which would have been the King of Pop’s 51st birthday.
