The many new faces of Louis Vuitton

Ad campaign for the spring-summer 2011 jewellery collection stars several up-and-comers.

Fashion house Louis Vuitton has launched a new ad campaign for its spring-summer 2011 jewellery collection, and rather than naming one woman as the new face of the brand, LV has chosen no less than 16 starlets to model the jewels, reports Vogue.

The line-up includes Montreal supermodel Charlotte Lebon, Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, and Alexandra Richards, a model, artist and DJ who also happens to be the daughter of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

The "it girls" were handpicked by the brand’s art director, Marc Jacobs. While the usual models and actresses are found among the campaign’s cast, Jacobs also selected musicians, a tennis player, and even a reporter.

As for the jewellery, the collection consists of four different lines: Damier Perle, Eye Candy, Cosmopolitan and Cocktail Tropical. With a retro Art Deco influence to match the house’s 2011 styles, the jewellery features bright colours, oversized pieces, and chunky cuffs.

The fashion house, well-known for its LV monogram, was formed in 1854 when the eponymous founder, Louis Vuitton, opened his first store in Paris.

Because of its rise to prominence as a status symbol, the brand is plagued by counterfeiting, and currently partners with law enforcement in major cities to combat counterfeit operations, as well as employing their own in-house team specifically to protect their trademark.
