The Montreal Jazz Festival

The International Jazz Festival of Montreal has announced its schedule for this year.

Cyberpresse.ca released yesterday (May 6) the programme schedule for the 29th annual Jazz Festival, dedicated to the memory of Oscar Peterson.

Hundreds of the world’s best jazz musicians have been invited to Montreal, including pianists, saxophonists, flutists, trumpeters and drummers. 

Among some of the stars performing this year are Leonard Cohen, Yael Naim, Gino Vannelli, Joseph Arthur and James Taylor. 

Some well-known soul and hip-hop artists will also be at the festival, including Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Marcus Miller, and De La Soul.  Event film director Woody Allen will be attending this year’s festivities.

Several special events have been added to this year’s programme, including a special concert marking the 25th anniversary of the Montreal label, Justin Time. 

Tickets for the festival go on sale Saturday (May 10).
