The 22-year-old actress was chosen among 1500 women hoping to have a role in the next James Bond movie. The next movie in the James Bond franchise is Bond 22. Arterton will be following in the footsteps of Eva Green, who played Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale.
Arterton has largely played in television shows in Britain, but will now be acting opposite Daniel Craig, who will have the role of Agent 007.
According to a source that works at Eon Productions, “Gemma has the modern look and fits perfectly with the new vulnerable image of Bond.”
There has been very little information revealed about the storyline for Bond 22. The villain roles have been given to Anatole Taubmann and Mathieu Amalric.
Filming will begin in January, and will take place in prestigious places such as Italy, Austria and Panama.
