The People Choose Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock was the belle of the ball at last night’s People’s Choice Awards.

The 36th annual People’s Choice Awards ceremony took place last night (January 6).  The awards show, which calls upon the public to select their favourite artists, took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Sandra Bullock, who is currently starring in the film The Blind Side, was clearly a fan favourite, walking away with two statuettes, one for favourite movie actress, and another for favourite comedy film (The Proposal).  Other actresses who had been nominated in the favourite actress category included Twilight‘s Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Aniston.

Bullock has continued to be a favourite among the public since winning her first People’s Choice award in 1996.  While accepting her trophy, Bullock, 45, stated, "I am only up here because I am fortunate to work with people who make me look good."

Although Kristen Stewart wasn’t chosen as the people’s favourite actress, she didn’t go home empty handed.  Twilight walked away with four statuettes, including one for favourite movie.  In addition, Stewart and her Twilight co-star, Taylor Lautner, were chosen as the favourite on-screen team.

On the music side, Taylor Swift was chosen as the people’s favourite female artist, and Nicole Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban, was named the favourite male artist.  The trophy for the favourite country artist went to Carrie Underwood.
