The Strokes complete new album

First new album from the New York band since 2005.

Fans patiently waiting for a new album from The Strokes will be pleased to hear that lead singer, Julian Casablancas, confirmed on Monday (November 15) that recording for the new album is complete, report Clash Music.

There is still some postproduction needed, but the album is set for release in 2011. Frontman Casablancas gave fans a progress update on his Twitter page: “(The album is) still not going to be out for a few months – mixing, etc, but just finally finished it, yesterday actually.”

The band’s last effort, First Impressions of Earth, was released in 2005, and followed by a lengthy world tour that left the group ready for a well-deserved break.

During hiatus, however, three fellow band members have invested their time in solo projects, with Casablancas producing a successful first solo record and tour.

The Strokes first album in 2001, Is This It, received universal acclaim from both mainstream and independent publications, including four stars from Rolling Stone, best album of the year by Entertainment Weekly and Time, and was also listed on many critics’ top 10 lists.
