The Strokes go under cover in London

The Strokes give their first show in London in nearly four years.

NME reports The Strokes performed a secret show in the Camden district of London on Wednesday night (June 9). Their last show in the city was in October 2006.

The group played under a different name, calling themselves Venison. They played 18 songs from their first three studio albums in a small venue that fits around 500 people.

The show was only officially announced the day before and tickets sold out fast. The Strokes kicked off this warm-up gig with New York City Cops, the first of several tracks they played from their first album, Is This It.

Singer and frontman Julian Casablancas, guitarist Nick Valensi and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. all appeared in fine form.

The band will perform at the Isle of Wight Festival tomorrow (June 12) and at the RockNess Music Festival on Sunday (June 13).
