The Strokes pick up the pace

New York City band plans to start new album right away.

With their new album Angles only released last week, American rock band The Strokes are planning to start working on their next recording as early as next month, reports Consequence of Sound.

In an interview with XFM radio, bassist Nikolai Fraiture confirmed that the group is already planning on getting back to work within the next month, confirming recent comments made by frontman Julian Casablancas, who said that the band would begin working on new material "as soon as possible."

"We just were talking yesterday about when we would get back together and start working on writing for the next album, which would be some point soon, I think around April — mid-April," revealed Fraiture.

The quick turnaround is a big change after the group took five years to finish their current album. After firing their previous producer, the band took over the recording and production. Last Tuesday (March 22), the band released their fourth studio album, Angles, which they had been working on since 2009.

Angles is the band’s first new album since 2006’s First Impressions of Earth.
