According to Myspace.com, the band is working on their first album since 2000. Jimmy Chamberlin explained, "We have been working day and night in the studio and I am happy to say that the drums are finished after almost a year of work."
Chamberlin added that guitarist Billy Corgan recorded a magnificent guitar symphony for the disc, saying, "eight guitars resonating in one big harmonic. It is still ringing in my ears this morning."
The new release from the Smashing Pumpkins should be released in the spring of 2007, followed by a concert tour. No record label has been associated with the project.
