The tale of two Micks

A former Rolling Stones guitarist reunites with Mick Jagger in studio.

Many fans consider Mick Taylor to be the most technically competent guitarist the Rolling Stones ever had. He is now back in studio with Mick Jagger to add some guitar riffs to the remastered version of 1972’s classic Exile on Main Street.

Taylor replaced Brian Jones in 1969. Jones was kicked out of the band and then found drowned in his pool that same year.

Mick Taylor had a more bluesy approach than Jones. His arrival helped change the Stones’ sound and they recorded some of their best albums, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street.

The Rolling Stones have decided to rerelease Exile on Main Street with some new, previously unheard tracks.

To stay true to the album’s original sound, the Stones asked Mick Taylor to work on the project. He left the group in 1974 due to conflicts with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. His time with one of the best rock n’ roll bands in the world had lasted only five years.

The remastered album Exile on Main Street will be available in stores in May 2010.
