The teething baby

Each baby’s teething experience follows an individual pattern.

Some babies sail through teething, others suffer with every eruption.

For some teething babies, gums are red and swollen for weeks before any tooth appears; for others, parents discover their baby has produced a tiny new tooth without any fussing. Here are some tips to set the stage for your child’s bright smile.

Once your baby’s teeth are in, it’s up to you to keep them clean. For the first year, you won’t really need to brush them, but you should clean their teeth and gums at least twice a day by wiping them with gauze or a wet washcloth.

Your baby’s first dental visit should happen around the age of 1. Don’t forget that it’s important to choose an age-appropriate tooth brush for your child.
