The Ting Tings do tings differently this time around

British duo The Ting Tings launch Hands, the first track off their new record Massage Kunst.

The Ting Tings gained fame in 2008 with songs That’s Not My Name and Shut Up and Let Me Go from their debut album, We Started Nothing.

But the British pop duo made up of Katie White and Jules De Martino wanted to do things differently the second time around.

"We record our own music and play all the parts, so like on our first record it was important for us to get some distance from our production in the mix process," White tells Spinner.

On the just-released Hands, the first single from their second album, Massage Kunst, fans will detect a more electro – pop approach, with a faster pace and less rambling guitar-synth jams.

The duo collaborated with Calvin Harris, the master of electro-disco-clash, who had previously worked with them on some parts We Started Nothing.

"Calvin creates amazing pop mixes with his own music. We imagine him to work in similar ways to ourselves, avoiding many traditional recording methods in commercial conveyor-type studios," says White.
