The Update on Ghostbusters 3

Sigourney Weaver revealed a few details on the third Ghostbusters flick.

In an interview with Channel 4 News, Weaver indulged us on some Ghostbusters 3 tidbits.

The actress hopes to get people pumped about seeing their favourite characters on screen again. The four ghost chasers, played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, are reuniting for a new adventure, although no role was confirmed for Sigourney Weaver.

The screenplay is still in the process of being written, but the opening date is slated for 2012.

The actress didn’t specify whether her character would be returning. Perhaps she will be taking on a small role, but she revealed that her son Oscar, who was kidnapped in the second film, is supposed to become a Ghostbuster and Bill Murray’s character will be a ghost.

In the meantime, Sigourney Weaver will be starring opposite Sam Worthington in the highly-awaited Avatar by James Cameron, which opens on Friday, December 18. We can also see her in the Tim Allen comedy, Crazy on the Outside, in theatres January 8, and in You Again on July 16, 2010.

The actress is currently filming the comedy Cedar Rapids with Anne Heche in Michigan.
