The Viper ACR Smashes a Record

Though it is designed as a street car, the Dodge Viper American Club Racer (ACR) is a maverick on the race track.

The Viper has once again raised the bar at the famous Laguna Seca racetrack.

Previously, the Viper ACR claimed a record time of 1:35.117. But its 2010 edition outperformed itself this time, thanks to a shorter 5th gear, improved aerodynamics and its 40-kilo reduction on the scale.

The front hood hides a 8.4-litre V10 that unleashes 600 horsepower, which rockets the 2010 Viper from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4 seconds.

The Viper ACR outshone the Devon GTX (1:35.075) by one second, and has reclaimed its honourable first-place title at Laguna Seca.

Driver Chris Winkler broke the record with an impressive 1:33.915, proving that Dodge’s snake was indifferent to Laguna Seca’s abominable "corkscrew" turn, which is a trademark of the track.
