The Virtues of Gum Chewing

Chewing gum can relieve stress and anxiety.

According to a study partly financed by Wrigley, a gum manufacturing company, chewing gum can help reduce stress and anxiety.

Forty subjects participated in a study and admitted that they felt more relaxed when they were chewing gum.  They added that they also felt more alert and focused.

This is not the first study to show the virtues of chewing gum.  In 1939, a scientific study concluded that gum chewing reduced muscle tension.  The American Army distributed gum to the troops for free following the release of this study.
