The writing is on the wall in Buenos Aires

Graffiti walking tours highlight incredible urban art scene in Argentine capital.

Buenos Aires, the capital and largest city of Argentina, has become a haven for graffiti artists, who take advantage of police ambivalence to create stunning works of art that cover nearly every public surface.

Now tour companies in the city are offering special guided tours to help visitors see the best street art the city has to offer, reports Routard.

"After 2001, there was a sense of creating a social experiment on the streets," Marina Charles, co-founder of online resource Graffitimundo, told ABC News. "Groups of artists all felt they could come out on to the streets and bring something positive to the environment they were living in."

The Graffitimundo website brings together the street art and artists, and the founders also operate a walking tour around the city, exploring the urban art scene.

Another website resource, Grafiti escritos en la calle ("graffiti street writings"), has compiled over 1,000 images of street art in the city, allowing armchair tourists to take an online tour.
