There will be a tribute to Andrei Markov in December

Habs fans are going to be happy, and some of them are going to say, “At last! The Canadiens have announced that there will be a “tribute” to Andrei Markov next season. It’s going to take place on December 3, when the Jets visit the Bell Centre to take on the Habs. This is great news. We’ve been waiting to see the Canadiens make a gesture in recognition of the career of the man who was the club’s blue-line general for so long on the ice, and to see that it’s going to happen is interesting. And deserved, too. Markov will never see his jersey retired by the Habs… but he did play 990 games in Montreal and helped the Canadiens to a certain degree of success.Without him, it would have been harder.

[content-ads] In its press release, the Habs also announced other major events. Of the lot? Four players will have a bobblehead night of their own this season

  • Lane Hutson bobblehead night (December 2 against the Sens)
  • Noah Dobson bobblehead night (December 16 against the Flyers)
  • Alexandre Carrier bobblehead night (January 20 against the Wild)
  • Jake Evans bobblehead night (March 24 vs. Hurricanes)

But it goes even further than that, too. There’s..

  • Soirée québécois (February 26 against the Islanders)
  • An evening dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Bell Centre (March 15 against the Ducks)
  • Halloween Night (November 1 against the Sens)
  • Country Night (October 20 against the Sabres)

And the Canadiens have also indicated that there will be other special evenings during the season (Pride, Tribute to the Military, Christmas, Celebration of First Peoples, Black People’s Excellence)… It’s going to be a fun season at the Bell Centre. The Canadiens have organized lots of activities and special events for fans who want to take part, and that’s interesting too. But what’s getting most of the attention is Andrei Markov Night. We’ve been waiting for this one for some time now… and it’s good to see that the organization has thought of paying tribute to a great player who has gone above and beyond for the club on the ice.
