Thierry Mugler dresses Angel up for Christmas

French designer worked with Swarovski to design limited edition of his popular Angel perfume.

French fashion designer and perfumer Thierry Mugler has partnered with crystal-maker Swarovski to create a special limited edition of his flagship Angel perfume, reports Le Blog Luxe.

Dubbed the Angel Collector Superstar, the eau de parfum comes in a 14 oz decanter that is decorated with 250 Swarovski crystals forming a swirling series of concentric circles, at the center of which an oversized 38 millimeter crystal hangs freely from a slender chain.

The limited edition is, however, extremely limited. Only 100 of the Swarovski bottles have been created, and each Angel Collector Superstar will retail for $3,000. The holiday creation is available now through the label’s website.

First released in 1992, Angel was Mugler’s debut fragrance. The sweet fragrance in a unique blue color contains notes of bergamot, tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel and patchouli. The bottle has always been an integral part of the fragrance: the inaugural star-shaped decanter – designed by Verreries Brosse – required over two years in development.

According to the label’s website, Mugler wanted "to make a perfume that could have a common resonance for everyone, something close to tenderness, to childhood," the designer explained.

Designed by the Swiss perfumer Givaudan, the sweet yet brutal Angel fragrance launched a new olfactory category, oriental gourmand, with its opening notes of patchouli followed by the sugary scents of praline, caramel and vanilla.
