Third Sherlock Holmes movie in the works

Drew Pearce hired to write script.

Although the second film hasn’t hit theaters yet, Warner Bros. has already hired screenwriter Drew Pearce to start writing the third Sherlock Holmes film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Pearce is the creator of British TV superhero satire No Heroics and is currently working on the script for Iron Man 3, another Robert Downey Jr. film.

Warner did the same thing back in 2009, three months before the release of the first Sherlock Holmes, the studio hired writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney to write the sequel.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows will be in theaters on December 16, again starring Robert Downey Jr. as the famous detective and Jude Law as Dr. Watson. Rachel McAdams will reprise her role as Irene. In the sequel, Holmes must confront his cunning adversary, Professor Moriarty, played by Jared Harris (Mad Men).

Currently, it’s not clear whether Guy Ritchie will direct the third film, but it is likely that Downey Jr. and Law will reprise their roles.
