Thom Yorke names his baby

Thom Yorke really likes the group of musicians he is playing with.

For those who might think Thom Yorke has had enough of Radiohead, think again. Yorke’s new group is just another way for the singer to release  all his pent up creativity.

Thom Yorke decided to assemble some musician friends for two concerts last October in Los Angeles. Among those who accepted Yorke’s invitation were Flea, bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joey Waronker, REM’s drummer, Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco and producer Nigel Godrich. Godrich has worked on every Radiohead album since OK Computer appeared in 1997.

It seems Thom Yorke liked the experience so much he decided to give the group a name. The group is now called Atoms for Peace. The young group of veteran musicians will perform two shows in New York on April 5 and 6, 2010. They then make their way to a headlining act at the Coachella Festival on April 18.

These are the only dates for now on the Atoms for Peace schedule. There has been no talk so far about a possible album.
