Following a confession made by the young Los Angeles waitress, Jaimee Grubbs, where she claimed to have had a secret 31-month affair with the golf champion, Woods expressed his remorse to his family.
The young woman, who was only 21 when she began dating Woods in April 2007, claims to have photos and steamy text messages to back up her claims. She even added that her relationship with the star was more than just a sexual one.
After Grubbs’ disclosure, the golfer, who has been drowning in rumours since his accident on Friday (November 27), had no choice but to respond. He then posted a statement on his Website, in which he admits his indiscretions.
"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone," he wrote.
Concerning the rumours of a dispute with his wife that implied that she was the source of his physical injuries, Woods explained that they are completely false, and that his wife, Elin Nordegren, has shown more grace than he could have hoped for.
The star wrapped up his statement by writing, "I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology."
