Tim Burton is interested in the Addams Family

Tim Burton is interested in bringing the Addams Family to the big screen.

Deadline New York says that director Tim Burton wants to bring the Addams Family to the big screen in 3D, but MTV reports this news is false.

According to the director’s spokesperson who talked to MTV, Burton has no actual project in the works. He is taking some time off after making Alice in Wonderland, a film currently having lots of box office success.

The spokesperson says, "There is no truth to the story. Tim has not lined up any of his upcoming projects."

However, the Deadline New York story may not be entirely untrue. The director’s spokesperson also said that Tim Burton may be interested in doing an Addams Family remake in the near or distant future. Still, no decision has been made.

According to Deadline New York, Burton will join forces with Illumination Entertainment and producer Chris Meledandri. They will reportedly make a 3D animated  film using technology that sees images taken frame by frame. Burton used this same method on his film Frankenweenie that comes out in November.

The Addams Family was a television series in the 60s before moving to the big screen. The Addams Family came out in 1991 followed by Addams Family Values in 1993. The films starred Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston.

Besides his film Alice in Wonderland currently in theatres, Burton is also working on a film adaptation of the series Dark Shadow with Johnny Depp.
