Timbaland filed a lawsuit against the Australian concert promoter, Showtime, for having broken their contract, concerning the cancellation of his Oz tour in Australia.
The singer’s attorney explained that Timbaland wanted to set the record straight for his fans, saying, "Despite Timbaland’s desire to perform for his Australia and New Zealand fans, he was unable to do so. From the moment the parties signed the contract at issue, Showtime breached its obligations."
It was agreed that the tour company was to pay the star $1.6 million, however they were unable to do so. The singer had reportedly proposed dates to allow Showtime to collect their funds, however they did not follow through.
The night before his show, Showtime announced the cancellation of the Oz tour on the continent.
The Australian press said that the tour was cancelled due to the artist’s recent marriage and honeymoon.
