Tinie Tempah too focused on his career for girlfriend

Tinie Tempah lays his soul bare about his relationships on his new album ‘Demonstration’, but claims he’s too focused on his career for a girlfriend.

Tinie Tempah is too focused on his career to have a girlfriend.

The ‘Trampoline’ rapper has a number of emotional tracks on his new album, ‘Demonstration’, where he talks frankly about his relationships – but says he’s too focused on his career to have a full-time partner.

He told The Sun newspaper: ”I take experiences from relationships and I try my best to make an extra-vivid story from it. ‘Lost Ones’ is about having an experience with a person who is in the limelight too. I was seeing someone who is famous too but it just couldn’t work out, it added strain.

”I’ve had a few relationships – I’d never say ‘girlfriend’. Those big relationships that are highly publicised never end well.

”I need some normality and privacy in my life – maybe that’s why I never get to ‘girlfriend’ stage.”

Tinie, 25, has a number of guests on the album, including Dizzee Rascal, Paloma Faith, Laura Mvula, Emeli Sande and Labrinth, and the rapper wanted to make the album as different sounding and not tied to one style of music as possible.

He added: ”I wanted to make it more musical and not defined by genre. I didn’t want a listener to think, ‘Oh, I’m listening to a rap tune or a pop tune or a grime tune.’

”I wanted the songs to resonate with people. I wanted it to be more lyrically ambitious and honest.

”Then I wanted the whole album start to end to feel like a body of work. I wanted it to have a running theme. I think I’m there or thereabouts.”

‘Demonstration’ is out now.
