Tom Brady says UGG for men

Pro athlete to launch own line of men’s UGG footwear and star in new ad campaign.

Footwear company UGG Australia has chosen NFL star Tom Brady as brand ambassador for their men’s collection. As part of the deal, he will be launching his own collection of casual footwear for the brand, reports Coco Perez.

Brady will feature in the company’s fall 2011 worldwide marketing campaign, and will also introduce his own collection of casual footwear for men, including rugged boots and shoes lined with the traditional UGG sheepskin.

"Tom Brady is the ideal UGG Australia endorser," said Deckers Outdoor Corporation Chairman and CEO Angel Martinez in a statement. "He embodies the stylish casual attitude that is at the foundation of every product we make, and is as much a style icon off the field as he is a playmaker on it."

"I have worn and loved the UGG brand for a long time," added Brady. "This collaboration gives me an opportunity to work with a leading global brand with a great history and a true vision for the future of its men’s collection. It’s an exciting time to be part of the UGG Australia team."

The company is also using this opportunity to return some of the focus to their menswear lines, after the sudden success of their women’s products eclipsed the original men’s collection.

"Given the global phenomenon that is UGG Australia’s women’s business, it’s easy to forget that we started as a men’s brand among California surfers," said UGG Australia President Constance X. Rishwain. "Collaborating with Tom gives us the unique opportunity to celebrate the heritage of the brand while bringing new energy to our men’s product and marketing."
