Tom Cruise Accused of Espionage

Tom Cruise, his lawyer, and a private detective have been accused of spying and illegal wiretapping.

After playing a spy in the Mission: Impossible film franchise, Cruise is now being accused by a long-time enemy of being a spy in real life.

TMZ reports that the actor, his lawyer Bert Fields, and private detective Anthony Pellicano are being sued by Michael Davis Sapir on grounds of illegal espionage.

The man claims that the trio conspired against him and has spied illegally without his knowledge, including through the wiretap on his telephone.  He has requested five million dollars.

Cruise and Sapir have been enemies for a long time.  In 2001, the actor sued Sapir, who claimed to have a video of Cruise in a homosexual relationship.  Cruise sued the man for $100 million.  In the end, the case was settled out of court, and both men claimed that the video never existed.

This time, Michael Davis Sapir claims that during that case, Anthony Pellicano was secretly recording his phone calls.  Attorney Bert Fields told TMZ, "The allegations are absolute garbage."
