According to Moviehole.net, Cruise may be the most powerful man on the planet in the movie 28th Amendment, directed by Phillip Noyce (The Saint, The Bone Collector). The movie will be written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers, Mission Impossible).
If the negotiations are fruitful, Cruise will play President Ben Cahill, who discovers that a secret committee, run by a character played by Denzel Washington, has controlled the U.S. government for years.
Cruise has not done many movies this year, but has a minor role in Tropic Thunder, which comes out on August 15.
Denzel Washington is currently shooting the movie The Taking of Pelham 123, opposite John Travolta. This movie will hit theatres in the summer of 2009.
