According to Variety, Cruise is in talks with MGM to star in the upcoming thriller. The project will be directed by David Cronenberg.
Washington and Cruise would play two spies who have spent years trying to kill each other. However, the tables turn when they are both being pursued by a group of killers called Matarese.
Filming is set to begin later this year, and the film should hit theatres in 2010.
Tom Cruise will also star in The Tourist in 2010.
