Tom Cruise will play Les Grossman again

The outlandish character from Tropic Thunder will star in his own film.

Les Grossman is a crude producer played by Tom Cruise. He made a small appearance in the film Tropic Thunder with Ben Stiller. The character was so well received that he has since been in some ads and at the MTV Movie Awards.

Paramount Pictures announced that Grossman will get his own film. Paramount is working right now with MTV Films to develop this project. Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) will write the screenplay. Cruise will co-produce the film with Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld from Red Hour Films.

Ben Stiller comments: "Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honored to be working with him."

In a news release, Les Grossman reveals what the film will be about: "To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus, ‘I don’t read the script, the script reads me.’"

In the meantime, Tom Cruise stars with Cameron Diaz in Knight and Day out on June 25. He is also getting ready to make Mission: Impossible IV which is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2011.
