Tom Ford dresses James Bond

American designer will once again design British super spy’s debonair wardrobe.

American designer Tom Ford has stepped back into the world of film to resume costume design duties for the upcoming James Bond film, Skyfall, reports the Telegraph.

Due in theaters in October 2012, the twenty-third Bond film, directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty), once again stars Daniel Craig, reprising his role as Agent 007 for the third time.

Ford also designed Craig’s debonair wardrobe for 2008’s Quantum of Solace. For Skyfall, the designer worked with Harry Potter costume designer Jany Temime to design the super spy’s debonair wardrobe of made-to-measure suits, shirts, knitwear, ties and sunglasses – all handmade in Italy.

Often dressed stylishly in a tuxedo and sunglasses, Ford could be considered the James Bond of men’s fashion design.

“I couldn’t be happier to be dressing Daniel Craig again,” said Ford. “James Bond epitomizes the Tom Ford main in his elegance, style and love of luxury. I am thrilled to move forward with this iconic character.”

Yesterday (November 6) at a London press conference, Craig stepped out in one of Ford’s suits to announce the production of film, which also costars Bond girls Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, as well as Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, and Ralph Fiennes.

Ford, 50, was creative director for Italian fashion label Gucci and French fashion label Yves Saint Laurent. He is currently the head of his own brand, designing menswear, womenswear, eyewear and beauty collections.

The designer made his film directorial debut with 2009’s Oscar-nominated A Single Man, based Christopher Isherwood’s novel of the same name, and starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore.
