In the survey of 1015 adults, conducted by Harris Poll, Hanks was ahead of all the other actors and actresses thanks to three big movies (The Polar Express, The Ladykillers and The Terminal) in the last year.
Actor and Director Mel Gibson comes in second for this last year. Interestingly, Gibson did not actually act in any movies in 2004. However, his movie The Passion of Christ was one of the most important movies in the last year.
Third place in this survey was given to Julia Roberts. This 37 year old celebrity had a busy year acting in two movies (Ocean’s Twelve and Closer), and becoming a parent, she gave birth to twins.
